Trump is explaining in the current press conference that had we just treated it like another Flu and "ride it out" as opposed to the shut down then up to 2.2 million people would have died. To those that have foolishly argued on this board that we are overreacting and to the few still arguing this, listen to your President.

LOL

What next, he is orange naturally?

Not sure what "ride it out" means, the vast majority of people will be getting this over the next few years and no 2.2m are not going to die from it. We've had solid numbers since the end of February.

If it was so dangerous all those doctors, nurses, techs, administrators, etc at the hospital wouldn't be going home at night to infect their families.

How many hours should we spend under our beds every day to make everyone's hurt feelings better?

I just find it ironic that I have been on this board combating this ridiculous dismissive attitude towards the virus with fools saying that because I am taking this seriously that there is no way I voted for Trump or am a Trump supporter.

Talking it up to scare people into hiding is what he should have done at the beginning. Now he should be preparing to reopen businesses.

Trump was referring to people saying that we should just treat this the same way we treat the Flu and avoid shutting down businesses and large gatherings.

Trump was pointing out the models that showed 1-2.2 million people dying in the US had we not enacted social distancing policy. The models are showing a range of 100,000-240,000 people dying with current policy.

Many are not going home to their families and are sacrificing time with them by staying away. What the hell are you even talking about.

This is not true, these are well documented models and they give ranges . Do not be stupid!

No they're not.

Lady that isn't going to help.... all of your clothing and personal items, your car, your phone, etc. can carry the virus. And you could be infected!

The technical term is "agree and amplify".

Very effective when dealing with emotional people.

Jesus fricking Christ, models are garbage in and garbage out.

We will get to the end, the numbers won't be that much, and we will have a great big "could have" to cover it all.

We better have one God damned big could have to justify however many trillion dollars we are throwing at it.

Each trillion is one million million. That means if we can prevent a million deaths we will have spent however many trillion/one million to do it. With the expected infrastructure upcoming that would make at least $4 million per "saved" death.

Sure, that PLUS crashing the economy is perfectly reasonable.

What does that matter?

If they are infected, or carrying the virus on their clothing, car, pursues, wallets, watches, phones, etc... that would make them a carrier.

If it was so dangerous, they must really hate their family.

2.2 million put of 350 million.

Less than 1 percent.

Not worth destroying millions more because of the economic upheaval. Plus, everyone who lives now has immunity.

You seem to be suggesting that someone who doesn't swallow what he's told by Fauci, models, CNN and even Trump - hook, line and sinker, is a fool?

You know, it's possible to take C-19 seriously and not think cratering the economy was a rational approach to minimizing its impact on the country.

A politician who won by holding serve with Red voters and swaying a reasonable number of barely-literate dolts.

This is the sort of calamity that can lose those dolts for him.

You think we could lose 2 million Americans to the coronavirus and it not effect the economy? It was likely getting wrecked either way.

Exactly. Just like these guys giving dates 2 weeks down the road and saying they will run out of hospital beds or respirators.
