I'm not sure the oppression of those ethnic groups is similar to what blacks endured

Although the obvious exception would be the Japanese in internment camps

All that being said it appears to be a valid observation on the surface. I don't think in the current state of affairs that any ethnic leader benefits anyone.

Well, others seemed to get the point. I mean, what are we talking about here? Do you agree with Sowell’s point? Do you think universities will be discussing his point in significant numbers with any seriousness this Fall?
One person, after you claimed that you were using hyperbole.

Yes. I am a big fan of Sowell and have been such for many years.

No, I doubt his work will be the focus of many curricula.

This summary best portrays what is one of the main reasons that race relations in America is having problems advancing forward out of the past. As long as people can profit from others misery and contempt there will be charlatans.

The way that the Chinese were treated during the building of the railroads was atrocious. And no ethnic group was treated worse than the Irish. I know that’s hard to fathom, but look into it. What you’ll find will shock you.

There hasn’t been a black person enslaved in the United States in 155 years.

Somehow, though, Pakistanis can come over and set up successful businesses in black neighborhoods a few days off the plane.

Stop.

Why won’t his work be the focus of many criteria?
I’m not asking to disprove your opinion, I also think that sowell’s work won’t be the focus of any curriculum. Why do you believe his work won’t be the focus of any curriculum.

I love Thomas Sowell, but having a Jew as the Son of God is a pretty strong standing

This is a fantastically stupid statement. When Jews in the US were carving out a prosperous life the only correlation the Christian masses made between Jews and Christ was that they murdered Him.

Christ and the Jews is in no way analogous with Jesse Jackson and black peoples as Jews actively reject Jesus as their leader and Jackson was perceived as a leader of black people.

But oppression did occur in the 60s

I'd argue that a lot of racial discrimination and systematic racism probably existed up until the mid 1980s

So it's not surprising that these ethnic leaders exist

I do not believe that they are currently needed however

Well said.

The time for ethnic leaders definitely existed. Their time has passed, though. And that's a good thing, IMO.

Unfortunately, there are people on this very board that for whatever reason, ignorance or agenda, will not admit how far race relations have come. We are to the point that if we could remove the race baiters, “race” would all but go away as an issue.

2 down votes out of 134...they are either dumb as a rock or down-right racist. And remember, contrary to belief by many on the far left, you don't have to be white to be racist.

Amen brother.

Anyone familiar with Walter E. Williams? He’s another black libertarian and he has some amazing videos on YouTube. Here’s one about his views on the civil war

LINK

Sowell, Williams, and Friedman are legends and completely changed how I view the world.

No, they know the answer. Thus the reason you see so many generated race false flags today.

They need racism alive to keep their political hopes alive.

Simple as that.
