How do sanctuary cities work? have they actually passed laws that make illegal immigrants not illegal? do they have that power? or is it just some sort of agreement between mayor and sheriff or something?

This is a message board.. if only there weren’t assholes on here with a smartass remark to someone asking a question on this fricking thing called a message board, perhaps TD would be better off and more active if people like you weren’t part of this message board

It’s cities who have voted to allow illegals to be there and protected against being deported. Or you can look at it as a liberal marketing scheme to bring ppl to their area in the name of diversity.

Yep. Kind of like how MJ states are run. I mean, I got no problem with legalizing weed but it's gotta be legalized officially. Anyways, it's just not enforced. Unfortunately, we're trying to legalize the wrong stuff in this country.

To be clear though, many did not vote for that. They’re hostage to the Dem cheating machine (think NOLA, Chicago, BR, LA) & their installed rulers who dictate these things.

They don’t cooperate with federal immigration agencies to report people that are in the country illegally. Well that’s what it used to mean anyway. Now there really isn’t any way to cooperate with federal immigration authorities because they don’t want to know if anyone is here illegally and they won’t do anything but give them a gift card, cell phone and a paper saying to show up for court in a few years with a wink.

Seems like most of them are trying to figure it out.

It’s easy to be a sanctuary city when you are 100’s or 1000’s of miles from the border but when the governor of Texas forces you to put your money where your mouth is, it ain’t so easy.

This makes sense to me in terms of legality. state law overrules federal law unless it contradicts constitution, right?
not much in the constitution about weed. I feel like there are some things in there about invasion...

of course, the govt actually respects the constitution in this hypothetical.
