I pay plenty. And get jack crap for it. Most of it gets funneled to the boomers through entitlements.
But as I said, plenty of my generation are leeches no doubt. But maybe if the Boomers running most companies passed along the massive increase in productivity to their employees there would be more taxpayers. But no, they siphon that money off to fellow boomers via stock buybacks and short term decisions made to maximize the next quarters numbers.

I’ll throw my two cents in on the mortgage stuff here. Do you realize that mortgage rates in the 70s ranged from 8 to nearly 12%? That 80k home you are shitting on would come with a 650 a month mortgage over 30 years.
When people can borrow money cheaply, prices go up. History has shown us that you will pay the same thing monthly for the home once the rates are applied. If mortgage rates went up to 7% today, home prices would bottom out to 60-75% of what you would pay at 3-4%.

Our first mortgage was around 7% in 2006. Our payment really wasn't all that different than our current house which is worth twice as much at 2.3%

Depends on the type of professions and how they fit your personality. Not everyone can make over $100,000 a year and work in a climate controlled environment.

What is your definition of an entitlement?
Money stolen from a paycheck and paid back later is not an entitlement.
It's actually theft if you don't receive your entire principal back.

Getting by is better than getting behind.

It is if you’ve already used that money for other junk. Every dime of current payments of entitlements is coming from current workers. The boomers already spent all their contributions.

It's still theft if someone breaks into my house steals all of my money and spends it on Jordans and a Dodge Charger that they then give back to me

quote:Yup. And pile onto that the massive tax break real estate gets compares to other asset classes, and and you'll find a lot of people investing becuase RE is a better place to store wealth than other assets. Drive up the prices as well.

Millennials want policies that will only make this worse. "taxing the rich" will just drive more capital into RE where the tax advantage continues to grow.

I'm GenX but I hate that people who are 36-41 years old get lumped in with some Buddy Holly glasses wearing 27 year old hipsters. Some of these people have teenaged kids.

The thing here is that the residents of this board are extremely conservative and get offended when they get lumped in with the lefty boomers during millennial complaints but all of you have contributed in some way to the mess we’re in now. Lefty boomers go big with entitlement spending and other economically destructive policies. Righty boomers have gone big with tax cuts - especially corporate exemptions, and wars. Then they cut anything that would actually help young people start life without a massive debt load.

No, the government spent it all.
Millennials on this board are always begging for student loan forgiveness and free college.
I can only imagine how bad millennials in the future Congress will spend money.

Are you serious?
You and I were brought up differently.
I was taught personal responsibility.
A lot of Millennials were not taught personal responsibility.
