Romney figures if he can kiss enough Dem arse, they'll include him in the vote harvesting scheme. And sadly, they will so they can scream that both sides do it. Just like they pointed to his vote in the impeachment as being bipartisan.

It made his almost nomination of Mittens as SecState insincere and clarified it exactly as the publicity stunt it was.

There's lots of general elections and primaries where the President doesn't endorse anybody.
Trump didn't need to endorse Mittens and Mittens was in no position to be a very influential senator like Orrin Hatch was.

Mitt's current term ends in January 2025 so he'll be serving the entire duration of a second term for Trump
