I am not an immigration hawk by any means, but your statement illustrates the disconnect in the country on illegal immigration. If you cut these undocumented Hondurans and Guatemalans loose in Manhattan, they simply provide additional cheap labor for wealthy Manhattan liberals, perhaps contribute to the diversity of the food and music scene a bit, and then they LEAVE Manhattan because they cannot even come close to living there. From the perspective of the wealthy liberal Manhattanite, supporting open immigration has no cost to them, some benefit, and they get to virtue signal. So where do the undocumented settle? In middle and working class neighborhoods, where they are seldom the monsters that some make them out to be, but they do consume significant amounts of social services and put strain on schools with their children, many of whom cannot speak English.

There is one word in that synopsis that carries any significance, and that is the word, “illegal.”

We are either a nation of laws or we’re not. If not, let’s ask that Manhattan liberal if they would mind letting the entire rest of the world in? Where is the ‘virtue signaling’ line?
