Don't laugh too much, I read an article by a doctor who had been on a plane with a mask and gloves, but swore he got it by droplets getting in his eyes. The article played it up as if goggles were also needed daily.

This country was founded on civil disobedience. Don't believe for a minute we've strayed to far from our roots as a population. Not sure how much you've travelled abroad. I have with the military and as a civilian. One thing that struck me is just how much different Americans are than everyone else. Its as if there is a "nervous energy" just under the surface. In general, we're always a little pissed off and ready to protect what's ours.I think its largely cultural. It was hard earned and has been passed down.
You know why the shutdowns are ending? Average folks are done with them and aren't doing it anymore. The government needs to retain the impression they are in control so they started opening up. Nola was starting back up regardless the people started moving around the the politicians know that can't be stopped.
Sure you have some "progressive authoritarian" types who will gladly report you to whomever in the name of safety but I think they are a minority.
