I just get a little riled up when I’m considered a lazy federal worker, but I also have one of the most stressful and fast-paced jobs out there. Sorry I sniped a bit.
To the OP..... Stop painting all federal workers as lazy malcontents who “push paper” and are expendable. Many of us do jobs that aren’t done in the private sector.

They're all non-essential anyway. Who do they think they are kidding?
Posted on 1/17/19 at 5:23 pm to TigersHuskers
I don’t feel sorry for government workers.

800,000 people can wait on their check for the long term safety and stability of this country. PERIOD.

Probably because we’re still doing our jobs without pay, so you don’t feel the effects. But we couldn’t care less about you feeling sorry for us.

You seem pretty mad, you should get in touch with your congressional representatives and let them know about your ire.

If you're over 30 and your job requires manual labor you're probably pretty dumb with some exceptions

Already did. They care about as much as y’all do.

Had a controller coming in when I left today. Overtime for them. Sixth day. No paycheck. The FAA is moving 43,000 flights per day. Put on a headset and let’s see what you got, big boy.
Another controller checking in here.
I'd love to see someone who is badmouthing all gov't workers come and try my job during thunderstorm season, while working with minimum staffing, shite hitting the fan, etc where one frick up could kill hundreds.

Honestly, not even upset. It's the risk I take with smart-arse comments. Totally understand your work is stressful af, without a shutdown going on. Don't fly much over that area, but thanks for not letting me hit another plane

We work for the same agency and while you’re in ATO, I work in Flight Standards. I would not consider myself or any of the Aviation Safety Inspectors, Aviation Safety Technicians or Front Line Managers assigned to the FSDO as lazy malcontents who are paper pushers and expendable. Both of our lines of business make invaluable contributions to Aviation Safety that the general public is, in some cases, not aware of.

Not so. Many people would rather work with their hands in jobs that require intelligence as well.
