You know what eventually happens to people who tease like this, right?
Right?

You're a fricking idiot if you think this has anything to do with party politics.
Reading about this judge, she had had a problem for a long time. GWB was aggressively terrible when it came to appointing judges. I mean he tried to put Harriet Miers on the Supreme Court for god's sakes.

Kind of OT, but did anyone see Robert Kennedy Jr. on Tucker last night?? What the hell was the problem? He could hardly speak.

According to wikipedia he suffers from spasmodic dysphonia
quote:
Spasmodic dysphonia (or laryngeal dystonia) is a voice disorder characterized by involuntary movements or spasms of one or more muscles of the larynx (vocal folds or voice box) during speech.[1]

Lot of rumors flying around. I'm getting them all the way out here. I'd love to know what the convos are at the ol 14th JDC.

Hell, you don't need to go the 14th. Some national publications have reporters digging up the dirt.
I'd like to know if the "caretaker/long-time assistant" was code for something else, though.

In all seriousness, you were the first one I thought of who would have the scoop...but understand your professional discretion.

i was just joking. i honestly don't know more than what's out in the public
the person who filed the interdiction is her bff and magistrate, though, and through the proceedings it was revealed that she's had power of attorney over judge minaldi for a long while
*ETA: i purposefully have not listened to all the rumors swirling around b/c i never wanted to make a stupid assumption or logical leap. i knew the biggest parts of the truth would come out eventually (and they have, the past week or so)

That's just crazy on so many levels.

The newly released records are part of a lawsuit filed by a longtime friend and colleague, U.S. Magistrate Kathleen Kay. The lawsuit challenged Minaldi's physical and mental capacity to manage her personal and financial affairs.

Minaldi's attorney, Glen Vamvoras, has said the judge is "competent and able to manage her own affairs." Minaldi gave power of attorney to Kay in 2007 and then revoked it two days after Kay sued, court records show.
the 2 attorneys handling the matter are old, well-established guys who both do criminal defense in the area

She needs to go with the quickness.

i don't really do much federal work (and getting in front of a judge in civil cases is rare, which is 99% of all my work in federal courts over the years) so i don't have much of a relationship with judge minaldi. from what i've told, and this was before my time, she was a very, VERY good prosecutor and trial attorney.

Don't care. She's not fit for the job. Next.

Circuit and/or chief judge can take her caseload away from her

The crazy thing is, there's not a simple mechanism, even for an individual who has clearly gone completely off the rails. There's no way she gets back on the bench, but it shouldn't (and likely won't) have to to require a full impeachment proceeding in Congress.

i think what kicked this all off was a trial where both attorneys moved for a mistrial last year. it's the craziest story

The documents, including a transcript that the AP petitioned to have unsealed this week, detail U.S. District Judge Patricia Minaldi's unusual behavior in February as she presided over a trial for a man charged with fraud. The Feb. 3 transcript of a telephone call offers a possible explanation for Minaldi's removal from the case — one of several that she has been taken off this year.
quote:
February's case in Lake Charles ended in a mistrial because even basic requirements — like telling jurors the burden of proof lies with prosecutors, not the defense — weren't followed, the transcript unsealed Thursday reveals.
Defense attorney Cristie Gautreaux Gibbens initially raised the possibility of a mistrial with Minaldi after they picked a jury without giving them routine instructions or reading the indictment aloud in court.
"They don't (know) my client's presumed innocent. They don't know that I don't have to prove anything," Gibbens said a day before the mistrial.
The trial abruptly ended after Minaldi interrupted and admonished a prosecutor questioning a witness.
"Get your act together. Okay. I have no idea what's going on here. Get your act together," Minaldi said, according to a transcript that already was publicly accessible.
quote:
Minaldi called a lunch break, but the trial never resumed.
The case immediately was reassigned to another judge, who declared a mistrial at the request of a defense attorney and prosecutor.

Hahahaha and then be elected to Congress over and over again like alcee hastings
But only if she is a democrat and it helps if she is a certain type of democrat
Hell if a democrat president nominated her to the supreme court she would get 100% of the dem votes and more votes than gorsuch because of republican cowards
