Kinda where I'm at. I'll watch the Olympics and WC and that's pretty much it ... that said, this tournament has been seriously entertaining.

Me neither, but I happened to watch for 30 minutes that night and saw the play. Imo it was a crappy call. Both players were going for a loose ball that was falling hard from above. The American players foot caught and pinned other players ankle accidentally as they were both reaching the ball simultaneously. It happens. There was no bad internet from either player, just good aggressive play from both.
Reinstating the USA player is ultimately the correct call imo.

Soccer is so fig infused with all the Lebron flopping that you can never actually tell if someone is hurt and what qualifies as a foul or not.

Not going to pretend I know anything about men’s soccer, never heard of him before but a few questions.
Is this the big deal many claim ? Is he really an impact player, will he make that much of a difference?
Also, was the red card warranted? Wasn’t it a bit sketchy of a penalty? (Answered already by some here, i see. Excessive is the general consensus)

Is he that important to the team? He is the top striker, its akin to asking if Joe Burrow was important during the LSU championship run.
To imply it takes more athletic skill to play baseball than football is quite ignorant of both sports. You certainly dont find fat people playing professional football as you do in baseball, lol.
It is the most popular sport in the world for a reason. You dont need expensive gear and manicured fields just a ball. Its called the World Cup for a reason, unlike the world series.
If you judge a person's skills by his earnings, Christiano Renaldo earned double what LeBron James did last year, earning 260 million bucks. He is also good looking, is in great shape......and just google his last half dozen girlfriends.
Lastly, disparaging a sport to bring it down to your level of understanding, well that is something a communist would do, bring everyone down to the lowest level. Be better than that, we are Americans.

My local watering hole here is half a block from the house Jessies. My brother in law in NYC sent me a USA Jersey. So the match with Paraguay was about to start and he calls the wife and asks if I have the jersey on, and she said not yet.
He said, well tell him to put it on and head to Jessie's that jersey has a very short shelf life.
Little did we know the US would make it this far. Should be magical tonight, win or lose.
The United States has certainly shown the world what a hospitable and friendly country we are.

I really couldn’t care less about soccer, but anything that gets the Eurotrash and their equally trashy American cousins upset I’ll support. Especially if it’s American exceptionalism that’s doing it.
