Once again, impeachment is a criminal process, subject to the 6th amendment

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.
His next argument will be that impeachment should not be tried in the Senate. 6th Amendment, dammit!

Res. 499, approving 17 articles of impeachment against Hastings, the greatest number of articles in any impeachment proceeding to date. Charges included conspiracy, bribery, perjury, falsifying documents, thwarting a criminal investigation

Now look at Andrew Johnsons

1) Dismissing Edwin Stanton from office after the Senate had voted not to concur with his dismissal and had ordered him reinstated.

2) Appointing Thomas Secretary of War ad interim despite the lack of vacancy in the office, since the dismissal of Stanton had been invalid.

3) Appointing Thomas without the required advice and consent of the Senate.

4) Conspiring, with Thomas and "other persons to the House of Representatives unknown", to unlawfully prevent Stanton from continuing in office.

5) Conspiring to unlawfully curtail faithful execution of the Tenure of Office Act.
Conspiring to "seize, take, and possess the property of the United States in the Department of War".

6) Conspiring to "seize, take, and possess the property of the United States in the Department of War" with specific intent to violate the Tenure of Office Act.

7) Issuing to Thomas the authority of the office of Secretary of War with unlawful intent to "control the disbursements of the moneys appropriated for the military service and for the Department of War".
8)
Issuing to Major General William H. Emory orders with unlawful intent to violate federal law requiring all military orders to be issued through the General of the Army.

9) Making three speeches with intent to "attempt to bring into disgrace, ridicule, hatred, contempt and reproach, to the Congress of the United States".

10) Bringing disgrace and ridicule to the presidency by his aforementioned words and actions.

Dude, you went back to Civil War days for that one? The Constitution wasn't even functioning properly at that time.

But it is a great confirmation to my point of what's also happening now. Acting outside the Constitution to take out a president, which is a violation of said Constitution.

The population of nyc and its immediate suburbs is 26.2 million per wiki. Its not a big area, a small spot on one side of the map.

That is around the population of the 20 least populated states - combined. Some pf those small states are huge in geographic size.
