THIS is the biggest takeaway from the interview and most likely to move voters needles in regards to the US position on Ukraine and foreign policy in general.
It highlights the Western propaganda machine. We've been told for years now that he's a roid raging lunatic and a mad man. He obviously is not that, regardless of what else he may be.

For an example of the POV, John Sweeney, the author, gets caught in Kyiv taking unauthorized videos. Ukrainians drag him in on suspicions of spying. They get his phone and see a cropped pic of he and President Trump. He says, "One of the people in that shot may be a Russian spy, but it isn't me."

You seriously haven't paid attention to the number of oligarchs that have mysteriously fallen backwards onto a magazine full of bullets or accidentally fell from their apartment window? He blew Yevgheny Prigozhin's plane out of the sky and his primary political rival is now in a Siberian gulag. You don't rise to his level in Russian politics without getting a significant amount of blood on your hands.
