The stimulus bill, in its current form, encourages unemployment for some people

Simply put, the stimulus bill currently would allow at least some people to make more from unemployment than they do from their job. It doesn’t cap at the maximum amount the person earns in wages.
I’m sure this has been mentioned already somewhere on this board, but wow, what a concept. The Dems probably love that idea.

If the wording stays I am going this route and then start a cash only pizza trailer, and cruise streets like an ice cream truck and charge 20.00 per pizza plus 2.50 per topping.
Going to be good times during bad times.
I just want to see how the other 47% live and still vote conservative.

Graham may be being an idiot; the unemployment place averages your payment according to way below your wage. So someone making let's say 15 dollars an hour gets not enough to eat. Add 600 dollars and they are maybe able to pay bills.

Sounds like Mnuchin is cool with it.

Counting pennies at the front door as their benefactors steal billions out the back door because, yes, U.S. workers definitely rigged up a pandemic so they could get laid off from work and make more money from home.

While I do agree with you, unemployment benefits are a joke, no one with a family could live off the current payments. You would be better off on full time welfare.

$600 x 52 weeks is $31,200 ($15 per hour)
This is more than your average hospitality worker makes in a year. If you give them 4 months of a paid vacation, they are not coming back. Only incentive would be if the unemployment is guaranteed and they can also go back to work at the same time...which would still be bullshite!

What are they going to do after 4 months is up?

It’s 600, on top of the state payment, no?

No doubt there will be people take advantage of the system but what are the answers with out making this very complicated.
If someone making $75k a year loses their job, is $300 a week fair for them?

It basically encourages people to furlough or straight quit their job, theyd make more. You think you're grocery store people will work for $600 a week if that if they can quit/furlough and make around $900 plus? The $600 is on top of the states unemployment. All they need to do is add the clause that if your job is still working you dont get the federal stipend if you quit or ask to furlough. Thats really it.

I do not think people can qualify for unemployment if they quit their Job.

Im not sure if all companies are doing like ours and furloughing employees that wont come in due to virus instead of firing them, which im not sure we could fire legally due to the virus right now. And if thats the case legally alot of workers are going to just ask for the furlough. I could be totally off about the legal issues of firing an employee that refuses to come into work due to virus tho and my whole worry is for nothing.

Are you copying and pasting from Twitter? I ask because I saw this exact response from some liberal blue checkmark on Twitter.
