The Shreveport Mayor story (re: Trump) became clear last night

I signed off here at 3pm and there was a lot of confusion about what happened. Here is the concise story:
The State police coordinates local security forces. They had Bossier police, Bossier sheriff and Shreveport Police scheduled.
Then Mayor Perkins pulled out Shreveport Police. State called Caddo Sheriff Prater and asked if his people could replace the Shreveport police.
Prater was 'WTF? I'm calling Perkins.'
Perkins confirmed that he was pulling out.
Prater agreed to help and then went to local News and they broadcast his outrage last night.
Perkins got heat and backed off saying Shreveport police would provide some help.
Perkins is an idiot and said 'The law doesn't require us to provide support and I always follow the law.'
and...
'If the President was coming here to discuss infrastructure I would have sent police to help. But he was here for politics.'
Meanwhile, the crowd requesting admission is at 40K, waaay more than the building will hold. I talked to several people this morning that are going to hang out even if they can't get inside. It's like a big tail gate party.

It's expected from him, so it's not really surprising.
This is the guy who canceled some city insurance before he was even officially the Mayor where he could clear the path to give that business to his buddy who lives in Dallas.
