Basically what he is saying is if a left wing site bans a conservative simply for stating an opinion it's fine but if the conservatives in here disagree with a liberals opinion it's some kind of oppression or something.

Or in other words he's full of shite

bullshite. Conservatives aren't the one censoring and banning other conservatives on facebook, twitter, google, youtube, etc... for having a political belief. The whole "both sides are bad" is simply a cop out to protect the left. EVERYONE knows that dissent is not tolerated on the liberal aisle. You want proof, go to democratunderground and post "Economy is doing great and i like Trump's economic policies". You will be banned within the hour.

Now state the opposite and that you support socialism on here. You will still be able to post freely. You will get ridiculed and challenged to support your beliefs, but you wont' be silenced. Unless you silence yourself.

But did you get banned from this site for simply disagreeing with us about it? Tell the truth
It is almost as if you people did not bother to read the article. It does not speak about “conservative” trying to stifle the behavior of non-conservatives. It speaks to the phenomenon of conservatives, (within said group) feeling compelled to express the opinions (and in the manner) he has described and enforcing the same behavior in “conservative“ places (like here)

And FWIW, that article is complete shite.

1) it's an opinion piece written by a guy who is trying to disguise it as fact.
2) It was originally a washington post article.
3) It was written in 2016. I doubt he sings the same tune in light of the social media banning of conservative viewpoints.

you folks continue to miss the point. It is not about you choosing to express yourself. Express yourself to your hearts content. The point raised in the OP and the article referenced in the OP is that people feel compelled not only to “join“ but also to “join in in a very specific tone” for fear of being ostracized if they do not do so.

This is the very nature of “politically correct” speech

Instead of a:

“I’ll just drop this right here.”

Why dont you post your thoughts on it, as well. ? No one here is going to put a padlock ina sock and hit you in the head for your free speech here.

I skimmed. It was not worth a full read, as it is merely 1 guy's opinion of what he doesn't like about the other side.

Oh but it insinuates the hell out of it.

quote:

And? His opinions are based on his own preconceived notions. So his thought process about why conservatives are posting patriotically is completely generalized and mostly wrong.

To sum up what the article is about

Liberal guy is upset that Trump won the election (keep in mind this was written December 2016). He now posts a very defensive article trying to attack the right because he doesn't like that the left was ridiculed about their PC culture and their safe spaces. He then tries to insinuate the "danger" of conservatives Patriotic PC, as he calls it. What is hilarious, is that at no time, has his so called "patriotic PC" ever been in favor of eliminating other peoples writes or censoring their speech. Meanwhile, fast forward to 2019 and the mass media/social media conglomerates are doing exactly that.

The difference is that the left will use whatever means necessary to not only tell you that you are wrong, but will attempt to censor you and destroy your life.
