The reason we don't like these crusty old bastards is that they are completely spineless and lack any conviction whatsoever.
Along with this. The frickers are just as big government as the other side. They don't give a rats arse about a small town catholic traditional family with some money problems.
If they would have some nuts and quit giving a shite what the social justice warriors want, they'd be unstoppable.

Marriage was intended to be a union between a man and woman, with the intention of procreating, having a family nucleus and continuation of the human race.
If you want marriage to just be a thing that makes people feel good, and it can mean anything you want and end at any time, then marriage itself is meaningless.

"Marriage" was the joining with a husband or wife. Religion makes claims of owning the idea that it must be a man and a woman (Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve). That doesn't make it so. It just means you think you have some authority over the concept.

As with most societal constructs, that's exactly what it means. I wouldn't say it's meaningless, but it is a subjective and symbolic commitment. I'm happy in my marriage, but it isn't because I hold some idiotic and mystical fantasy that I'm doing right by a god.
