All that is needed to (further) obliterate the Constitution is for 5 people to simply believe they know better. It's already happened and it will continue to happen.

Some of us lawyers are just trying to help our clients raise capital and buy companies

Or is your argument completely incoherent versus the information you shared?

If you don't understand the difference between naturalization and immigration, you may want to read up on it.

But in short, up until 1868, when the 14th Amendment was ratified, anyone could immigrate into the US, but only white people in good standing could be naturalized.

No one is going to seriously tackle the issue of immigration. Judges are interested in navel gazing. Congresspersons are interested in donations. Business are interested in new customers and cheap labor.

I agree with you on this. It's a BAD system when it comes to immigration. I just don't see a better alternative being offered.

As long as lawyers are in charge, there will be no change.

Cool. So they participated in Social Security and paid taxes to FedGov.

Problem is that we have a welfare state with open borders.

As recently as last year some 2 million illegal immigrants were paying into Social Security. Musk put a stop to it.

Now do the Second Amendment

I'm a southerner. Didn't do much hunting growing up. I went with friends just to hang out although I didn't like waking up that early. Mostly we were a fishing family. My Dad always owned a nice bass boat, so I gravitated to it and fished as well. The point I'm poorly making is that I was never really inclined to own guns. My Dad had a .12 gauge and a pistol, but they collected dust in his office. I don't think I ever saw him actually shoot his guns.

When I was 19, my Dad told me a story about my Papaw (you can still find it in the Clarion-Ledger microfiche archives) that determined for me that I'll never be without a weapon in my "Castle" using the legal term. I'm a hothead sometimes so I would never carry in my truck. I also learned later in life that my Dad had an H&K P7 in his nightstand that he never told anyone about except my Mom. My Dad was German in his genealogy, hence the P7. The greatest handgun ever made it is said in some circles. I still have it.

What that has to do with the 2nd Amendment, you be the judge. There are really evil people in the world.

I know that. You know that. Harry knows that. But he’s trying to teach us a civics class while avoiding that. Let’s enjoy it.

Do you even have a point?

Or is it just too hard for you to follow posts in this thread-type format?

I have lots of points. My point with respect to your nonsense is that there’s no analogy between our initial state of existence as a country and today. Drawing lines between those two dots is something a retard would do.

I know it's fun to dig on lawyers, but this objectively isn't true. There are plenty of lawyers who have morals and are out to do what is right.

Correct. Weaponized emigration into the United States was not a thing during Reconstruction.

Liberals are quick to chant "aMeRiCa iS a nAtIoN oF iMMiGrAnTs!" without acknowledging that prior to Reagan's amnesty bill in 1987, the thought of bum-rushing the US border was practically unheard of. Not in the way it was today.

The immigrants whose name they're quick to invoke definitely did it the right way. It's a fine rhetorical argument to conjure images of Ellis Island, but when they do, they fail to recognize that during that time, THAT WAS THE LEGAL IMMIGRATION PROCESS. They were doing it the right way.

Yes, our immigration policy and processes needs to change. That doesn't make the presence of those here illegally NOW any less in violation of those current policies.

It definitely doesn't accomplish anything by rewarding line-jumpers simply because it makes those justifying the crimes feel better momentarily about their white guilt.

For the vast majority of lawyers "right" is whatever is legal. Most people have a different moral structure than that.

What the heck is a "coolie"?

Usually I've found that quoted, Ulysees-styled wordy responses are designed to carve out some sort of nuance in the plain fact of what I'm saying. The US is a religious, Protestant country historically. Whatever Hulu, Tutsi or Negro tribe you represent, I am one in the same. I'm Catholic. Also unfavored. But my family sneaked in from Scotland, and we've been productive to the betterment of the US. How have your lot fared?
