She pardoned a pedophile and the public backlash sunk her. The left wing party was shocked at the backlash. Hungarys rep to the EU is out as well.

Seems like common sense is making a come back.

I had to google this. I didn't know they had a president and a prime minister.

I thought Orban had resigned based on your headline.

Sorry. This was the President, Novak, not the PM.

Curious about the division of power between Prime Minister and President.

Maybe they'll reconsider supporting the 50 billion to Ukraine

The controversy which led to the resignations came after the names of 25 people pardoned by Ms Novak in April last year, as part of a visit to Hungary by Pope Francis, were made public by Hungarian media last week.

Got this from a bbc article. WTF.

She wasn’t a member of the left wing party.

A very very very right wing party

I did not know this:

quote:

The politics of Hungary takes place in a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic republic. The prime minister is the head of government of a pluriform multi-party system, while the president is the head of state and holds a largely ceremonial position. Executive power is exercised by the government.

The Prime Minister is akin to the POTUS, the "president" has certain very limited functions...and she even fcked this one up....
