So earlier today they reported 2k now saying 5800 and Ukraine was claiming upwards of 7k while Russia says 500 & I don't trust a single one of them to tell the truth.
Like most eastern European conflicts we probably will never know

That's interesting. That bridge appears to be directly west of Kyiv. I get wanting to cut off Russia, but they may be hindering ally shipments of equipment/aid as well.
You don't think the Russians on the road, that this bridge is on, to Kiev might hinder shipments of arms to the Ukrainians?

Seems they may have been out of options.

Yeah, the bridge is right here. It has stalled out the Russians big time but them pushing south is about to cause problems.

I looked at the street views on google maps and it looked a little more south than your spot, but pretty close. You may be right.

At 3pm EST the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CHL) will announce that Russian and Belorussian 16 & 17 year old children would be banned from the upcoming draft. I am Ukrainian born and want peace. I do not believe banning teenagers for something they do not control is the answer
Won't be long now before they convert those COVID camps into Russian internment camps.

Italy’s main University in Milan just banned teaching Fyodor Dostoevsky because he’s a Russian writer.
Dostoevsky was sent to a Siberian labour camp for reading banned books in Tsarist Russia.
We are reaching levels of hatred and stupidity that I thought were never possible.

It makes this other yacht look tiny.

We don't have to hate Russia. Some of them are risking their lives to protest this war in Russia.
This is stupid.

OT but every time I hear anything about a yacht I always think of Ron White's bit about partying on Phil's yacht where the Russian dude with tiny giraffes parties in Monaco.

Also makes me wonder if this is also somewhat due to the US being more technologically advanced as being able to avoid those casualties. Ukrainians are using Stingers and Javelins but to even report that they have killed damn near 6500 Russians was comical.
Maybe some of our more knowledgable military guys can chime in and give me some more insight.
From my limited knowledge it simply looks like they moved faster than their supply lines and outran their coverage. During the Iraq wars we had to slow down our front lines many times so they didn't lose support or jeopardize support lines to ambushes with no troops around.
I gleen this from the pictures of tanks all alone with no infantry surrounding. you're not supposed to do that. They're big metal coffins that way.
As the logistics caught up now they can just bomb you out and aren't as susceptible to ambush since you have troops and equipment.

Not to mention how spread out the Russian forces are. I'd imagine its a lot harder to coordinate resources when you have like 7 different fronts.

Someone busted out the windows of the Russia House restaurant in DC not long after this thing started.
I keep waiting for cooler heads to prevail and start taking a step back but have yet to see it. Hard not to see the parallels to some dark times in history in all of this.

I'm kind of curious about what legal right any country has to seize the assets of a foreign national just because his home country did something the EU and the US don't like.
Instead of just looking at it on the surface, look a bit deeper.
It's not Putin's yacht. It's some random Russian billionaire that apparently no one had an issue with until Putin decided to take Ukraine.
Frankly I was sickened when Biden got huge cheers when he bragged they were going to take these assets as I see it as them just taking from anyone they don't agree with. Much like just happened in Canada with the truckers.

What novel did you read this from? This isn’t Soviet Union of the early 20th century

The US military has cancelled the upcoming test launch of a Minuteman III ICBM from Vandenberg SFB to avoid miscalculation after Putin's order to introduce "special service regime" within Russian nuclear forces.

Any time Russia tries to get off the roads, it's a disaster.
These were abandoned.
