The NRA Video Calling For 'Common Sense Media Control'

Noir begins by underscoring the role fame plays in inspiring mass shootings (video below). "Can anyone tell me the last time a mass school shooter left a manifesto, a comment on social media, or a video where they said they were inspired to commit their atrocity because of a firearm?" he asks. "Name one. I'm sure you can't, and neither can I. Because as much as the media love to pivot the conversation after a mass school shooting to gun control, the pen is still mightier than the sword.
"These kids aren't being inspired by inert hunk of plastic and metal lying on a table," he continues. "They're inspired by the infamous glory of past shooters, who they relate to. And no entity on the planet does a better job, whether directly or indirectly, of glorifying these killers and thereby providing the inspiration for the next one."
There’s no need to cover these shootings for two weeks straight plastering the kids’ face over and over and over again," he says. "Pass a law stopping the media from reporting the killer’s name or showing his face. You can still report on the shootings. … We just need reasonable laws that place limitations on the glory and fame you give to these killers and their twisted motivations."

I think it's great Idea. Why not?

1. Slippery slope
2. It would be expanded on
3. Not talking about it solves nothing.

your same liberal BS argument was put forth when they decided to stop showing streakers and idiots running out onto football fields during games.
it didnt happen over night but they stopped showing them in the viewing screens and on TV so after a few months people stopped doing it once they realized they werent going to get media or any other kind of attention over it

I did watch the damn video
The Dems are serious about taking guns. Rebuttle is a campaign to take media rights away where you've already stated it's a bluff?
What if the Dems call the bluff and make you go through with it? It's stupid.

There is no reason to cover these shootings to the degree MSM and even Fox News does.......

You clearly missed the point.

Maybe watch the video again. Pay attention to what he says after the screen goes black.

They'll say you can't control a free press. The thing is a free press is also free to be fake.

Nobody is surprised by this

did this come from Ollie...the Call of Duty spokesman who now blames video games for societal violence.

I agree. We need more control of media. All media should refer to the NRA as a terrorist anti American crime syndicate. Anyone who doesn’t should be shut down.
Control of media coverage is control. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you get to control it or dictate the message. Either it is controlled or it isn’t.

Agreed... but then, the left has enacted 1000 slippery slopes for ages with reckless abandon. Wouldn't be bad to see it swung back the other way for onxe. At least a little.

2. It would be expanded on
Agreed, per point one. And we shouldn't allow that.

Totally disagree. Noir is spot on with his commentary there. If these kids got no air time, they would 100% decrease in commonality. Imho. Believe it or not, the total number of school shootings isn't that much different than it ever has been. The sensationalized ones are the ones with weird kids.. not angry gang type happenings.

Sorry NRA but 'media' & 'common sense' are mutually exclusive
