Birmingham has been largely gentrified by virtue of the UAB medical system. Great? Nah. But I will strongly argue it’s waaaaay better than 30-40 years ago.

It’s less about being a city, town, rural area and more about racial makeup. Are there exceptions? Sure, but upper and middle class white people tend to bring stability to a community.

Numbers are probably right. I have to say it’s usually where it’s expected and a single arrest a couple of months ago solved about 12 of them immediately. Like I said it’s not great, but the yuppies are spreading unbelievably fast downtown. We’ll see if it continues to improve

JFC. I would wager you have never gone downtown or whatever neighborhood in ATL at night or the two minor cities you mention. I would suggest you do so and report back. And if you have the time visit and report back from Detroit, Chicago, and St. Louis. From a previous post that I will leave below - well it speaks volumes on your mindset or lack thereof.
BTW, would a continued wide open southern border helped with crime aspects? I suspect you are an old school southern Dem that continues to hang on despite their current beliefs/agenda. Am guessing also you are glued to CNN/the majors/NPR/and local news for your info.
