No, your ideological purity is why the GOP can't win

Really? Current POTUS? Currently controlling Senate?

Ideologies are why we have political parties. If you don’t agree with the ideologies, you can remain an independent.

Current POTUS

Whom the ideological pure (McCain, Ryan, Romney, et. Al) still oppose and literally tried to destroy in favor of Hillary Clinton.

frick your self righteous purity. The alternative to the GOP is pure fricking evil, if you can't unite to fight that then you deserve the pit of hell that they are trying to fundamentally transform this country into...

Are you really calling McCain and Romney “ideologically pure” examples from the GOP? You’ve proven my point.

Wholeheartedly agree. The question is, is the Republican Party ready to accept those who leave the Democratic party and attempt to join the GOP?

However, more and more are waking up to the fact that the Democrats haven't done anything for Black people since LBJ got Civil Rights and Voting Rights legislation in the post-JFK 60s.

LBJ’s great society destroyed the black family and doomed much of black society to a vicious cycle of violence and poverty. All to make you dependent on the Democrats and keep you in check

What I see is many patriotic American blacks who have pride in what their fathers did to build this country, even if this country didn’t recognize their contributions at the time, don’t like the anti American ways of the New Democrat party that we see now.
What is it most that the New Democrat party does that you disagree with? I am sincerely interested in your reasoning.

For me its gotta be the dems shift towards socialism-communism, and identity politics, this country was founded on capitalist ideas, and became the greatest country in the world because of it. Communism has never worked anywhere it has been tried, i dont understand why they want to try it here.

And i just hate this identity politics shite, its like the dems are intentionally trying to turn Americans against each other.

I hate the open borders idea the dems are floating around also. Im not against immigration, i just really don't like the idea of anybody who wants to can come here can and get free healthcare. We are the United States of America, the richest most powerful country in the world, we are in a position to where we can pick and choose the best and brightest to come here

Im also a big believer in the 2nd amendment, which dems seem intent are destroying

This is true but its kind of irritating being around other black people talking politics and not being able to say how you feel because you dont want to get the kanye treatment

You sound like a patriotic American that loves his country and doesn’t like to be taken advantage of.
The Republican Party is a big tent.
We have hard core patriots
We have moderate old school liberals who still love America
We have fiscal conservatives
We have libertarians who are social liberals
We have evangelical Christians
We have union constitution workers who want their factories back
We have military vets that fly the flag
We have parents that want their kids to not be subjected to homosexuality at school
We have Americans of every stripe
But what we all have in common is
We love our country
We love our families
We love our flag
We want to be left alone to grow our wealth and do as we please on our property
We want to worship as we see fit
We want the 2nd amendment ability to protect those we love because we know we can’t count on government to do so
And
Most of all
We want government that leaves us, our money and our families alone.
Welcome Patriot.

I walked away from that party in 1980.....voted for that idiot carter in 76 and when Reagan was running his theme was "Are you better off than you were 4 years ago" and of course the answer was no.

The stone cold honest truth is I'm afraid to not be accepted if I switched over. Being a Black Southerner with some conservative beliefs (as well as some more moderate beliefs) isn't too uncommon, but most haven't warmed back up to the Republican party yet. Switching could essentially put me on an island.

Claim your island and your beliefs. You'll be an example of free thought, self dependence and integrity, others will follow.

They've ignored hardworking taxpayers of all creeds and colors and replaced us with the hardcore liberals who hate the traditional way of life (hard work, self sufficiency, traditional gender roles, marriage and Christianity).

The LGBT and immigrant obsession has pushed me over the edge. I used to think there was room for conservative ideas within the party, but there is none... even on a local level. In Alabama, nearly all the former moderate Democrats are now Republican.

You don’t have to be a republican. A lot of republicans don’t like trump. He is rude and brash but he’s not bought and he’s fighting for your job to stay here in America and he’s fighting those PC socialist that are having trans storytime in kids libraries.
There are no democrats that will stand up to the filth that is being pushed on our kids. Teachers push kids to get hormones and don’t tell the parents and if the parents object, they try and have judges ORDER the parents to allow young children to have sex chance hormone therapy against the parents wishes. This is the New Democrat party and if you don’t like it, vote for trump.

What if I want a government like Switzerland, where localized governments (Swiss cantons) are given a ton of control to address most socioeconomic issues according to the traditions and specialized needs of each state.

I disagree with this new-age mentality that the Federal Gov't needs to do everything and solve every issue - that is too expensive and it doesn't actually frickin' work.

Socially, I want an open and loving society with well guarded borders. Immigration is fine as long as they are in a position to contribute and acclimate to their new home.

I am doomed to third party voting at the presidential level - but I'm okay with it. I probably should be a Democrat, but at the end of the day I just go left of center on the single-issues votes and then vote mid-grade GOP for MD governor. Conservatives at the local level around here tend to be above average when given any power.
