That’s pretty much one of the only types of weapons that military uses that civlallins can buy without special permits, licenses, tax stamps, etc...

No justification needed. We can purchase whatever is legal. It's not all of our fault when someone commits a crime with a firearm.

I'll bite if your knowledgeable enough to acknowledge that a .223 AR15 is not a "military grade weapon".

I never saw an AR-50 in the military.

Saw a bunch of Barrett .50s but never an AR-50

The military doesn’t care for single shot anything. Except maybe grenade launchers.

I really think you mistake me for the anti-gun crowd.

I don’t care what you call it, what I care about is where you think the line is.

If you can't define what you are talking about, how can you have a coherent discussion?

FFS. You have no clue what you’re talking about. I’m willing to bet you couldn’t tell the difference between a 5.56 round and a .22 round.

Because a Ruger Mini 14 and an AR shoot the same ammunition and are both semi automatic rifles. But one makes you nervous because it looks “scary.”

The Mini does not sound dangerous.

It's mini for fricks sake.

If it made a high pitched noise and looked like Pelosi Galore it could run for Congress as a Democrat.

Most Americans don’t own military grade rifles. Lord knows I would not want to put an off the shelf AR-15 against a military grade AK-47 or M4.

My AR is not military grade. It is a simple semiautomatic rifle that has a 30 round clip.
A Military Grade Weapon would have a selector switch which would allow it to operate as a semiautomatic or as a repeat fire in either/or burst mode and fully automatic.
The AR platform simply allows you to quickly change out accessories such as flashlights, sights, optics or laser pointers/rangefinders. This makes it easy to customize.

The round most common for the AR platform is the 5.56x45mm and/or .223 Rem.
It is a relatively small round that has little use as a large game hunting caliber.
It’s best characteristic is it’s high speed flat trajectory and low weight but it is not the choice for large game. There are many semiautomatic rifles that fire a much more powerful round that will cause much greater damage.
The AR is demonized by those that are completely ignorant of firearms and want to create a boogie man to scare the masses to create an environment indicative to gun confiscation for political gain.

Actually an AR fires in an arc.

Not very flat.

WHY does it matter what I think? What matters is what should be legal and how you justify it.

For example, if you outlaw any weapon based on lethality, then that opens a concurrent law that should apply to vehicle or aircraft. I mean if we outlaw military weapons then it follows vehicles and aircraft would be outlawed as well.

Is there a military that actually equips their forces with AR-15s?
