the panican is strong with this one. I don’t think people are interpreting Trump’s point correctly.

He is clearly fixated on the certain jobs that need foreign workers to teach Americans because the knowledge has been lost. The South Korea issue in Georgia was top of mind and i’m sure the South Koreans made it a point during their trade talks.

Everyone is ignoring the first two words Trump uttered - “I agree”. He agrees that in general, we can’t mass import foreign workers. I think he just wanted to make the point that there are examples where it’s actually necessary.

Lastly, if you think Stephen Miller isn’t on top of this and in Trump’s ear, you’re crazy. Everything will be fine.
Agreed! Importing highly skill tech workers is a universe away from open borders and letting in leeches that suck the taxpayer dry. Also, if memory serves me correctly, the price to get an H1B is $150K. Whole lot of short-sighted people on here.

No, it isn’t. These “highly skilled workers” are taking jobs from American workers at lower wages. They’re also straining housing and infrastructure in certain areas. Not to mention if they stay and get permanent status, they tend to vote Democrat.

reading comprehension is hard. *some* are necessary and that’s the point Trump was making.

The Trump interpretation crowd is back. Not shocked he used the word "panican" and I just actually looked at his screen name

We totally need H1Bs from India for positions like QA Analyst, Scrum Master, and Kubernetes Engineer. Totally cant be done by Americans

A one time fee of $100K.

It’s better than what we had before, but it’s still much cheaper for companies to hire foreign labor.

They are not American if they get a sheet of paper that says so, they remain exteremely ethonationalist, India firsters.

As demonstrated by Dinesh D'Souza and Vivek's reaction to the poop festival dude.

laugh all you want. Trump is balancing the needs of the American worker with the reality on the ground. It’s really not that hard to comprehend.

But keep overreacting. It really demonstrates your grasp on politics!

Why does this seem to only be associated with Indians. Are Europeans or Asians not eligible for H1B ?
with the continued back slide Europe is going, you would think Christian nations like Portugal, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Poland, Armenia. Even Italy and Spain would be ripe to poach skilled workers.

I already covered the Eastern Euros, but a bunch of Mediterranean bros aren't going to make it in American work culture (and they know it)

If by ground you mean allowing his tech donors to benefit from firing Americans in favor of foreigners, sure

So, tech companies are willing to pay $100K for one H1B visa, bring some dude over from India, pay him a considerable wage, and he's not highly skilled?

anecdotally I know some Polish, Bosnian, and Armenians that are working circles around average ‘Merican in the professional world.

I have some tile and stone tradesman (Baw, his dad, and his son) that are all absolute experts at their trade. I’d put their work up against the best Mexican or Guatemalan crew this side the sierras

You misread my comment. A massive shift in Trump's policies is what I referenced.

Trump has had about as bad of a two week period as one can have. His support is plummeting and he's out of ideas on several fronts. You can pretend otherwise but reality is sinking in. At least he still makes funny tweets once in a while.

Do you seriously think India is pumping out highly skilled tech talent that America is incapable of? I mean come on, use some common sense.
