that Trump asked Comey to stop the investigation into Flynn?? Why wouldn't he ask to stop the investigation into the other members of his camp that are STILL in his admin??
I don't know. Maybe because Flynn looks like the only person in his administration who actually has some major legal problems, despite warnings? The rest were let go a while before.

But it doesn't matter. You're going to default to denial regardless. And frankly, our opinion is irrelevant, willful ignorance or otherwise.

Wild shot in the dark.. but... THEY'RE IN THE GOD DAMNED FBI.

Yeah, let's see. Comey is reported a very popular Director among the rank & file FBI agents. He gets publicly fired in a very unprofessional manner by the President. That President then tries to threaten him about tapes of their conversations. This leak was intentional and it was meant to scare Trump(it did, he's been silent since the article dropped) and send a message to Congress on what to subpoena. The FBI is on Comey's side. We can argue on the appropriateness of taking sides in something like this, but that is politics and you have human emotion sprinkled in as well.

Comey probably knew he was going to be fired at some point and had instructed his associates where to find his files and memos.

They own it and haven't released it.

The NYT article said an associate of Comey read the memo.

Who is the associate and how do they have access to an FBI memo?

It's entirely likely that Comey kept copies of his memos.

It's also entirely possible that someone with the FBI is the snitch.

So what you are suggesting is that at the time the acting director of the FBI instructed his underlings to commit crimes against the United States if he was fired?

Because they weren't relevant, nor were they near as troubling at the time.

Wait, did you just say that Trump possibly attempting to obstruct justice wasn't relevant to the Congressional committee that provides oversight to the FBI?

You people get dumber by the minute

.He is saying that the FBI is leaking like the Titanic.

The source of the leak is either FBI or former FBI. Trump pissed off the FBI, per pete williams whose beat is ALL FBI, they believe comey was fired due to the russia investigation.

They are goign to continue to leak shite. I doubt a major one is leaked today but I wouldn't be surprised if thursday PM has a whopper, something that can marinate until the talk shows on Sunday.

eta: the memo was not classified, so it can be shared. Per the NYT story.

Those memos are property of the FIB.

Not Comey

is it even known for certain that there is a memo?

No, but I'd put the chances at around 99.9% that there is one.

This is an important question. Has Comey stated or released a statement pertaining to the memo? Or is it from "sources close to the matter", or "senior officials"?

There is probably no doubt that there is a memo out there. The memo is probably fairly innocuous from a legal standpoint, but damaging politically.

When I was an investigator, I took notes and then made "memos" of every interview I conducted and of every work related conversation I had. I put "memo" in quotations because I actually put my thoughts to words and recorded my speech rather than my writings. Very useful for when you are retracing an investigation to be sure that you didn't overlook anything.

So , I would be shocked if there were NOT memos.

And there's the rub. FBI agents breaking an oath. Top law enforcement agency in the land - breaking laws.
