polls consistently show democratic voters more likely to vote than the GOP in the 2018 midterms.

This SCOTUS shitshow is going to totally evaporate that advantage.

Evangelical turnout is going to be massive. It was 85% in 2016, highest of any group. The smear against Kav is going to SPIKE those voters again.

A lot of nevertrump republicans just got their reason to vote in november.

Republicans need to start running truthful ads. They need to start reminding moderates, independents and conservatives that Democrats hate them and would destroy them in a second if it meant they could advance one of their political positions.

how can any religious person (outside of a lesbian Episcopalian priestess) be for the party of corruption, sex scandals, religious intolerance and lies?

I almost never vote in midterms because I'm too lazy and live in TX. But I’m thinking I will this year, so I can do my part to make sure Teddy Bear beats Beta.

This SCOTUS situations certainly has my jimmies rustled.

IIRC, the vast majority of christian democrats are

a) catholics who are of the distributism school

b) left wing lutherans in the midwest

Americans may be gullible, but they aren't fully stupid. They see this for what it is.

GOPers wanted the Kavanaugh nomination to work against Dems in the midterms. But it could backfire. That said, there is a chance Dems may have overplayed their hand w/Kavanaugh accusations. There is some CapHill chatter that the allegations could boomerang on the Dems

There's a whole lot of Americans with too much chlorine in their gene pool.

Why would they be more likely to go to the polls after he gets confirmed?

Seems like pushing this through would fire up the left not the right? Not that it matters tbh

i've seen a lot of baptist and former baptist be pretty pro-clinton and pro-beto in the last couple of years. been rather eye opening.

i will say that most of them are/were very loosy-goosy baptist who don't stand on inerrant scripture or more conservative tenants of the baptist church. As much as i respect Russell Moore's biblical views and desire for biblical (not social) justices, his political preferences have influenced a lot of the church today in a way i don't personally agree with.

not only have the DEMs gone way low (and somehow went even lower this past weekend), but they also are displaying why Trump was so important to so many: the USSC. this utter vitriol, bad faith dealing, and simply poor behavior is going to ressonnate, and the problem is the DEMs had to use their media mouthpieces so much to blow this shite up (while ignoring Ellison and Brown), the moderates and possibly stay at homes WILL have heard the threats

I’d be running sound bytes from Kristen Gillibrand and that insane bitch from Hawaii on a continuous loop with the question: is this REALLY the kind of insanity you want in Washington?

see my above post. a lot of evangelicals i know are super Beto fans.

my conversations where they ask why i'm not all aboard the Beto train have been mostly:

"health care is not a right. Beto can scream that from the mountain tops, but that doesn't make it true. you cannot be a proponent of the second amendment and have nothing to offer but laws restricting gun ownership. His statements are dishonest here. Forgiving student debt is a massive transfer of wealth. Every single one of his stances involves new regulations. And he uses the F word all the time in public and i personally find that immature to boot with his DUI records. He seems like a nice guy and he genuinely is out there meeting people and trying to win votes and i applaud him, but because of those, i cannot vote for him. Oh and he makes being pro-choice a false equivalency of being for women's health care. that's a crock of shite. Good day."

Beto was done for the second he agreed to debate Cruz 3x. He didn’t need much help.
