I love Bukele’s crime fighting but that was economic illiteracy.
The federal government collected $4.9 trillion in taxes in 2024. It spent $6.8 trillion. So 72% of the federal government was funded by taxes. But Bukele says that is just an illusion, that money printing is how the government is funded. It is funded 72% by taxes and 28% maximum by printing money. In fact, that’s so wrong I’m wondering if that was AI instead of Bukele.

If the federal government can just print money as needed, why are taxes even necessary?

I stopped in 2016 and they will

Because the amount of money printing the federal government can do is limited by the resulting inflation.

if I were single, with no one relying on me to provide financial support, emotional support and protection. And, if I had no vices, I would stop filing and paying. But, alas...

Taxation is simply punishment for following the rules with the side benefit of politicians diverting those funds to their patrons in exchange for power over those same rule followers to keep the grift circle going.

Sovereignty resides with the people
We have no Caesar
Any one who thinks we have an obligation to pay taxes to those who are corrupt and against us at every turn, need to take their “principles” to the founding fathers

How do you starve what is printed and when we are already trillions in debt?
Would this be a good time to flash back to this past February where Trump said to the press pool on Air Force One that he believes that the majority of the assumed national debt may very well be accumulated fraud?

The federal government may be printing the money, but it's only on the basis of a cash advance taken against an open-ended credit card issued by a private Western central bank whose sole client is the Imperial Federal Government of the United States.
The Federal Reserve is quite literally the source of every governmental and societal I'll that has befallen us since before WWI.

I'm glad this was posted. I was actually thinking about this today.
Why the hell do we still pay? Billions upon billions stolen from us, watching 35% of your check going to this fraud.
When is it enough?

If the money was being used in good faith, most would be ok with it
But daily it’s SO much fraud and waste exposed and pissing away billions and billions that is what gets people exasperated at the entire system .
