I love Bukele’s crime fighting but that was economic illiteracy.

The federal government collected $4.9 trillion in taxes in 2024. It spent $6.8 trillion. So 72% of the federal government was funded by taxes. But Bukele says that is just an illusion, that money printing is how the government is funded. It is funded 72% by taxes and 28% maximum by printing money. In fact, that’s so wrong I’m wondering if that was AI instead of Bukele.

If the federal government can just print money as needed, why are taxes even necessary?

Because the amount of money printing the federal government can do is limited by the resulting inflation.

Taxation is simply punishment for following the rules with the side benefit of politicians diverting those funds to their patrons in exchange for power over those same rule followers to keep the grift circle going.

Any one who thinks we have an obligation to pay taxes to those who are corrupt and against us at every turn, need to take their “principles” to the founding fathers
