Proverbs 21:15

15 When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous
but terror to evildoers.

Neither.

I do not quite understand why I would feel either joy or terror

I feel anger. The mother fricker should've been fried. He got off light.

I don't think there is any joy here. Although justice was served, Austin is still dead and all the natives think the murderer dindadunuffin. At least he is going to jail but again, that's what should have happened

Two young men’s lives are destroyed over unchecked emotional issues. There have been signs of trouble with the murderer that could have been dealt with and maybe changed the course of all this. Those who let it slide to this point should be held just as accountable. This is the real issue in all this that everyone is missing. The kid was expelled for having a knife at another school for gods sake.

"Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord." Romans 12:19

I'm not personally involved in any cases that make the public sphere of knowledge, so I am inherently subject to bias. If a person murders another person and they are punished, that's great - however - I don't think our society should get a gold star for doing it's job. On the other hand, despite one of the best judicial systems on earth, our earthly justice is not blind - see guy getting a $1MM bond for running his mouth. Personally I *think* the kid was guilty, but how well informed am I?

I believe this plane of reality is temporary anyway and that there's more on the other side. Ragebait makes entering eternity seem very far away.

Justice wasn't done. He should be executed.

I feel sad for the state of our country. We, as a nation, need to get past skin color. I think most people have but the extremes are taking the spotlight and social media is giving the loons one helluva platform to get their message out.

I'm glad they found the racist thug guilty, but am disappointed in the short incarceration. He should have been given the 99.

I feel bad for the Metcalf family. After everything I've read my conclusion is that Karmelo Anthony was going to end up in jail eventually. Sentence wasn't strict enough

Totally agree.

I’m actually stunned by how emotionally charged and obsessive this story has become in the American South.

Absolutely. Losing a child isn’t something a loving family should have to endure.

If I were the foreman on the jury (which I recently was for a murder case) and the case was here in Cali I would’ve been pushing for 1st degree murder with express malice. I’m not sure how the laws are written for Texas but out here premeditation does not have a set time duration to meet that threshold. His bringing the knife, retrieving the knife from the bag and stabbing the victim is enough for a first degree murder conviction imo. Karmelo should spend the rest of his life behind bars with no chance of release.
