The biggest obvious of all obvious - Homelessness and Mental Hospitals

From Gemini-
quote:
The correlation between US homelessness and the closing of mental hospitals (deinstitutionalization) is widely considered a strong, direct, and causal factor in the rise of modern homelessness, particularly for those with serious mental illnesses (SMI). While the movement to close large state-run institutions began in the 1960s with the intent of providing better, community-based care, it lacked sufficient funding and planning, resulting in many patients being discharged without adequate support, leading to a surge in homelessness in the 1980s.

The move put more money in the pockets of politicians. Hence they get to celebrate their newfound wealth to the detriment of the American lifestyle.
It is a shame. Fraud and kickbacks are everywhere.

Check out the correlation between deinstitutionalization and the ballooning of our prison population as well.

Of course not.

You are a known commie, but this is (should be) a bipartisan issue. The modern model of giving money to NGO's and charities hasn't (and never will) work. We need state facilities reopened, for humane purposes.

Why? Because I don’t trust the government?
Y’all need to learn what communism is.

This is actually one of those extremely difficult topics. While there is certainly a causation from the change in institutionalization policy and the rise of homelessness, fixing the problem, today may be a situation where the cure is worse than the sickness.
Institutionalization is a very drastic measure that deprives us of our most basic human rights and often comes after very little due process and oversight. Additionally, you're talking about expanding the role of government, increasing their intrusion in our normal lives, and spending a lot more money
Also, you have to remember that when these policies reversed, it was due to deplorable conditions in these institutions

SFP the idiot “attorney” only has the mental capacity to see black/white, nothing else makes sense to him.
But I know exactly what you’re talking about. Hospitals are difficult to steal from, especially when taxpayer money is the target.
NGO’s that bring in billions in taxpayer money to fight “homelessness” are very easy to steal from, especially when they’re designed for that very reason.
People like SFP should go take a look at how much taxpayer money these NGO/non-profits have received just in the state of California over the past 10-15 years to “fight homelessness”. Then realized California is admittedly in a “homeless crisis” and needs more money to fight it. Year after year after year after year…
That doesn’t even raise a flag for fools like SFP, just give them more money is how they see it.

The only people we institutionalize anymore are convicts and children (via public schooling).

Terrible timing for that bad take

The facilities closed when the advocacy lawsuits started. States are actively trying to separate themselves from liability for school children…they’re never welcoming the crazies back.
