This board can't go 10 seconds without two dozen posters having to make childish insults about Michelle Obama (a politically insignificant figure) or calling every current female politician a cum dumpster - lack of engagement with weighty topics is about #5000 on the list of things that would improve the board (and the broader society).
I will say, just to stay on topic, that SCLib reminds me of a few of the civil libertarians, also lawyers, on an old Gators board who challenged many of my most childish political views as I became an adult. I'm still waiting for someone to give me hope for the future re: our police state, the criminal justice system, the exploitation of the poor and infirm, etc. The people who are most knowledgeable about these institutions seem the most despondent.

Of course! And documenting a huge huge victory over antifa graffity in Asheville is our big plan!

Good post.
Par for the course, this thread itself is being hijacked by people with the attention span of a fricking gnat who think the topic is about voting libertarian

I'm at this point. Prior to Trump, I would have categorized American political factions into four groups: i) libertarian Republicans; ii) establishment Republicans; iii) establishment Democrats; and iv) socialist Democrats. Groups 2 and 3 have historically supported every enhancement of the surveillance apparatus, as well as mass incarceration. There seemed to be some unity between groups 1 and 4 in the Bush era, but Trump's election has made the entire political left much more deferential to the most fascistic and least transparent elements of the leviathan. To me, the only faction in American politics that has consistently opposed the MIC, the PIC and all the excesses that accompany it has been the Rand Paul Republicans, and they do not have anywhere near an electoral majority to implement significant reforms.

just like classic blue dog liberals don't exist or did they change to libertarian like Dersh?
your point is valid it is all dumb. but the essential goal should be recognizing the establishment and the media for what they are, no?
it is like a big R republican GOPe- and a little r republican.
at least we can call out our assholes democrats crown them.

Libertarians are useless. I agree with them on 90% of the issues but ultimately they have no backbone and next to no public support.
Great for theoretical discussions in 2021 after things calm down - but in case you haven’t noticed were knee deep in a Marxist takeover attempt and the most heated and consequential election in American history.
We just can’t get our shite together and let minute differences get in the way of an overall plan. That being said, I’m glad we don’t this election cycle since I think that would put Joe and the communists pulling his strings in the White House.

I was responding directly to a comment specifically about the libertarian party

I don't know why but I confuse you with another poster that white knights :knight3: for Q. They don't have libertarian in there name but something like your scrn name.

I agree all the time with dawgs here, kind of creeps me out. I am not a good poster though, I am here to verbally abuse leftists.
No lie though, Hershel is my favorite cfb player ever. He is a good sincere man. I was there for a couple of the games where he ran over and through us.

I love Rand Paul. I admit I called his dad a nutcase in that debate years ago.
He said what Trump said but was labeled a nut.
I wish Ron Paul had a Trump cabinet position now.

Great as usual - fricktons of people here won't read it
So let's remember this one, just because your screen name has "libertarian" in it, the thread becomes "a thread about the Libertarian party"

LiberalHank who pretends to be libertarian.
Prediction: You won’t.
Why? You lack the cerebral horsepower to grasp the difference between a preferred ideology and applying existing law.
Of course, you were also too stupid to have understood that this thread was not about libertarianism, but rather about a willingness to engage in actual discussion of substantive issues ... something you have never been seen to do.

Case in point, that bitch Liz Cheney going after Thomas Massie from Kentucky and saying "he doesn't belong in Congress"
Massie being squarely in the Ron/Rand Paul camp...

you sure you are not a classic liberal and went L like dersh?
Posted on 9/5/20 at 1:42 pm to cajunangelle
?
Since you need a label?
I'm an Eisenhower Republican, Reagan Republican and Trump Republican
as if "Republican" really exists anymore. I rue the day I ever voted for Bush/Bush/McCain/Romney
