The Alt Right is its own worst enemy

Despite knowing that the media has a double standard as to liberal agitators/rioters...
Despite knowing that they would be under a microscope and their every action would be deconstructed, and likely misrepresented...
They decided to let themselves get goaded into a violent response.
When confronted with violence, are they within their rights to defend themselves? Yes.
To respond in kind? Arguably.
But they have given their opponents everything they could have possibly wanted in terms of PR/media and they are going to pay a price for that.

I believe he's the one that coined it. The alt-right is absolutely a real thing, a movent separate from the traditional conservative, Republican "right."
Now did the media and certain left wingers try and expand that title to others for their own political purposes? Absolutely. But people are ignorant yo seriously suggest the alt-right is not an actual movement.

I had heard of the alt-right prior to the campaign season years ago.
Ramzpaul was a popular YouTube figure in this movement quite before it was being used as a buzzword by the left in this campaign season. I don't doubt that you hadn't heard of it before, but that doesn't mean it didn't exist.
