I came across Rush Limbaugh during his TV days back in the early 90’s when I was in the 6th grade.

During the summer, I would stay up late to watch his show over the other late night talk show hosts.

Something about his demeanor and command of the English language gravitated me to him and his beliefs. I seemed to enjoy his lame comedy bits and humor.

I always say a little bit of Rush rubbed into me at the right time.

I especially liked when he made fun of Ted Kennedy when he got is wires crossed and started talking in gibberish.

Rush Limbaugh TV Show Ted Kennedy

For years, I didn’t realize he was on the radio too. It wasn’t until like 1998 that I found out he was on WWL by accident.

I then started listening when I had time. I would listen to Walton and Johnson going to Nicholls and then Rush coming home from Nicholls. That education on politics and current events was more valuable than anything I could have learned at Nicholls.

It also solidified my connection with conservative values and opinions.

Rush stay strong.

Heard the first day he went national in Fall 1988.

He replaced a guy named Michael Jackson.

Saw him in Lafayette at his Rush to Excellence Tour shortly thereafter.

Praying for his recovery!

1989 - My Junior year at Texas A&M. Riding in the car with my father. He had it on. Been listening ever since.

I am a true graduate of "Advanced Conservative Studies".

First time was when Bush 41 had just gone back on "No New Taxes" pledge. Rush was tearing into him and he has never stopped teaching me since then.

God Bless Rush Limbaugh

"Library - for those of you in Rio Linda that would be 'liberry'"

I was stationed in CA at the time, and I nearly drove off the road, from laughing so hard, when he said that.

Summer of 1990. Driving/moving for grad school. Kept having to find new stations as the AM signal would start crapping out.

89/90. Have been a regular listener ever since. Cannot think of any time I didn’t listen to him, at least some part of his show. Podcasts made it much easier.

Prayers for El Rushbo and the EIB family.

I used to like the “environmental update” with the chainsaws as background noise.

College, mid-1989 to early 1990. I actually saw a "Rush is Right" bumper sticker on someone's dorm room door at LSU just a few weeks/few months before I caught the radio show.

I just remembered another Rush story.

I had junior high school teacher that was a huge liberal but a Rush fan (the band). He even had a Rush band poster in his classroom. He was a civics teacher. One day a teacher went to his room and had an entire conversation with him about Rush (the Radio host) and the entire time the liberal teacher thought he was talking about the band.
