There's gonna be a contempt referral.
First, as Lankford pointed out, he gave a statement after he was sworn. You cannot piecemeal invoke the privilege. He arguably waived it by giving the statement.
Second, blanket assertions of privilege are improper. Name, address, occupation are not subject to privilege. Questions related to clearly non-criminal matters are not subject to privilege.
For example - his not answering who is personal assistant and chief of staff are would be privileged because they are potential witnesses/co-conspirators.
Not admitting to the binder in front of him, or what the 5th Amendment says, are not.

The optics of the Dems abandoning Fauci were not good. They were trying to highlight their disdain for the hearing, but they ended up showing that Fauci is now utterly useless - or worse, detrimental - to them.
