This article has intercepts of communication between the Russians after the battle describing the arse kicking they took.

https://www.businessinsider.com/russia-leaked-audio-humiliating-defeat-by-us-forces-2018-2

The reports that are on TV about … well, you know, about Syria and the 25 people that are wounded there from the Syrian f*** Army and -- well ... to make it short, we've had our asses f*** kicked. So, one squadron f**** lost 200 people …right away, another one lost 10 people… and I don't know about the third squadron but it got torn up pretty badly, too... So three squadrons took a beating… The Yankees attacked… first they blasted the f*** out of us by artillery and then they took four helicopters up and pushed us in a f*** merry-go-round with heavy caliber machine guns….They were all shelling the holy f*** out of it and our guys didn't have anything besides the assault rifles… nothing at all, not even mentioning shoulder-fired SAMs or anything like that

Why is, what I assume is, an old picture from Desert Storm the photograph for this story?

Did that other thread have the quotes from the Russians in it? If so, then I apologize for reposting.

If not, then stop being an arse.

It did. And I think he wasn't being an arse, else he'd just say "Germans" in some snarky way.

I think he was pointing out that there have been a few other threads on this and that you might not expect a huge response to this.

because, this is one of the types of tanks that got destroyed in the attack and CNN didn't have one of it's pussy imbedded reporters with the Russians to take more pics and make them look like victims of the meanie weenie big bad US armed forces.

Here’s pic of the T-72 taken from a Reaper drone just seconds before the tank was hit.

This tank was hit three days after the major dustup that led to the deaths of maybe up to 200 Russians. So this is a second time they appear to have approached the SDF base, and with full knowledge of what the consequences would be. If this is where I think it is...it’s within 200 yards of the SDF base.

That’s why I’m wondering if these moves were intended to provoke the response they got.

Interesting thought.

What would the end game be then? To provoke direct confrontation between US and Russia? If so, Russia didn't hold up their end.

Do you have a link to that info? I must have missed that.

I just can’t think of another logical reason why they would approach the base twice, especially after they got their shite pushed in.

I’m not sure Wagner was involved in the second approach with the tank but they had to know it would get lit up. That was a suicide mission.

Nah I did this myself. I have high confidence that I located the base but a little lower confidence that the tank got that close. The pic I posted doesn’t include the full screen shot but that tank is between earthen chicanes. The SDF base has the same earthen chicanes on the road leading to the base starting 200 yards outside of the perimeter.

That the tank approach was three days later has been reported by a number of outlets but it seems most people are just conflating the two events as one.

Maybe they’re just not that smart. Or some retard Syrian driver got lost in his tank.

What I do know is that Russia is learning a whole helluva lot about our tactics and technology at the expense of a few tanks and some used up Russian mercenaries

The road I think he was on leads directly to that base. Considering the massacre there a few days before I’d think they knew where they were going.

It appears this all about the biggest refinery in Syria, that we sit on.

Yeah I don’t think it’s a real big secret that the SDF base is the refinery. Just don’t see that expressly spelled out in most places.

The Syrians/Russians/Iranians are positioned just a few miles away.

If the Russians could acquire that refinery they could offset lots of cost.
