That doesn't seem ethical

frick Cochran and McConnell.

He shouldn’t have run for his last term but did anyway. And when he nearly lost to McDaniel in the primary, he ran dirty and paid for black turnout to push him over the top.

As far as the governor goes, I believe the last instance of something similar to this was Frank Murkowski getting elected as Governor of Alaska and appointing his count of a daughter to replace him as Senator. And then he lost to Palin in the next election.

Appointing yourself to a position or appointing a relative to a position tends to piss people off and results in a loss down the road.

Phil should just serve as Senator and Governor at the same time.

It’s rumored that Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant will appoint state House Speaker Philip Gunn to the seat, and schedule a special election to replace Cochran for November — the same day as the general midterm elections.

He did what Haley Reeves Barbour told him to do.

There were supposedly polls showing that McDaniel would win nomination but that if Hood (AG) ran as well, he would beat McDaniel. That scared them big time so they begged him to run.

Thad Cochran and John McCain being in poor health in old age and still refuse to leave the senate are good examples of why we need term limits.

This is one of the oldest senates in american history and Mitch McConnell had a heavy hand in that persuading Thad and McCain to stick around, not that McCain needed much persuading anyway.

There was talk on Talk Radio that since 3 Republicans want the appointment and then run too, that they might appt. a temporary Senator that would NOT run in November, but to just hold office a few months until an election is held. That would also move McDaniel into that race, not against Wicker. I expect this to happen. I'll call two people I know Tuesday to check it out.
