They will justify it by saying the Civil War resolved this question. You can’t secede. They won’t have to attack. You seem to be under the idea there will be a war. What there will be is the leaders being arrested and imprisoned.

I used to think this was stupid. Now I don’t. Hell I think of myself more as a Texan instead of American because America is headed down the shitter so fast. Texas at least tries to preserve those great American ideals that are seemingly disappearing around the country.

No problem. The US will give Texas more in foreign aid than it currently receives as a US state. Companies will start opening all their manufacturing in Texas due it foreign laws and transportation proximity. Texas will be the primary oil and energy exporter to the US. Massive freight forwarding terminals will be built at both ends of I10 and I20 as well as I30 and I35.

In Texas? Certainly it is significant but it's not critical like many others. Texas has massive advantages over everyone else in terms of geography. Take away the Feds regulating everything to death? Oof. Texas will blow away Saudi Arabia in a few years. We not only have a ridiculous amount of O&G we have the infrastructure and capacity to own the world from a refining perspective. We also have the Port of Houston and Corpus just as a start. We have a Pipeline system that is in place to move the Oil from the massive fields all over the state. We also have the 2 best Petroleum Engineering Schools in the World.
Texas is also dominant in a broad variety of industries and has highly productive agricultural land as well.
That's just to start. The US actually needs Texas much more than the other way around.
Any separation would almost certainly be very peaceful, complicated but peaceful. A mutual defense agreement would be right at the top of that. It's in the interest of all of us to do so. Texas is an incredibly strategic position in terms of access to Central America and the Gulf and no one wants the Houston Shipping Canal to go down.
In terms of paying the bills though? Texas is just fine.
