I'm not going to try to defend what happened at Waco.

I'm merely suggesting that the Bundy situation is not the Waco situation.

I agree.

It is a terrible situation that may result in bloodshed, but it isn't comparable to Waco. At least not yet.

yeah the turtles use it. the same turtles that have been using it for 100s of years while the bundy's have been using it.

Bundy refused to even pay the rent.

No he hasn't. TO use your analogy, he's refused to pay rent to an absentee landlord. The fed promised one thing for the rent and has not lived up to their promise just like if your landlord doesn't fix your dishwasher or A/C. Bundy has offered to pay the local county as they actually offer services to him. The Fed has done nothing and that is what this protest is about. We should be offering something better to Bundy. We get more out of having a good working relationship with Bundy than doing what we are doing now.

No offense, but the fact that I don't type out a fricking report on the history of the situation and just choose to put that I know its has been going on a while could very well seem like I have an understanding of the situation too...

So this is the same situation, there was no end game in sight, so the Feds need to move in heavily armed in order to accomplish an end?

It will be very interesting when these militias that claim they are coming begin arriving...

Of course not, in that it's not a siege situation. But it could very easily become one. Massive amounts of armed federal agents on the scene. Growing number of folks that feel the Gov't is singling out their stance... In the video posted, did you see any armed citizens? Or did you see Fed agents, threatening dogs on them, tazers.. and look completely lost and inept on how to handle a situation?

Sorry, I haven't been following in a day or two.

Other militias are planning on helping out the Bundys? Please elaborate if you feel like it.

ETA: Nevermind. I'm looking it up.

Based of interviews. If we're going to start providing links to every statement made in the media, then I'd like links to the Feds' contracts with local ranchers, as well as links to their attempts to collect payments they claim.

Apparently... A few groups from Texas, OK, and I forgot where else have said they are on their way to the scene to support the Bundys.

shite will get really interesting if they arrive armed.

I'm not completely in the loop, but do they plan to show up armed? Or is this more of a peaceful display of force?

Hopefully this. Just create enough issue for the fed govt to say this isn't worth the hassle and change the laws for everyones benefit.

Militia groups are rallying behind a rancher whose cattle are being seized by the federal government.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that two militia members from Montana and one from Utah have arrived at Cliven Bundy’s ranch.
“We need to be the barrier between the oppressed and the tyrants,” Ryan Payne of the West Mountain Rangers told the Review-Journal. “Expect to see a band of soldiers.”
Payne said that militias from New Hampshire, Texas and Florida are likely to join and stand with Bundy and stay at his ranch.
“They all tell me they are in the process of mobilizing as we speak,” Payne told the Review-Journal, adding that hundreds of militia members are expected.

Family ranches remote federal land 100+ years. Fedgov decide it needed to provide helpful oversight. Wasn't helpful. charged unpaid fees. taking cows for payment. protest.

So we can all go on military bases whenever we want? Can I catch a ride on an aircraft carrier next time I need to travel overseas? No need to pay to enter federal parks or monuments or museums? Does the same apply to state and city owned property?

Bundy refused to even pay the rent.
No he hasn't.
Yes he has. He has refused to pay rent for two decades.

quote:

TO use your analogy, he's refused to pay rent to an absentee landlord. The fed promised one thing for the rent and has not lived up to their promise just like if your landlord doesn't fix your dishwasher or A/C.
Please show me where the feds offered to provide ANY services for the grazing fee.

quote:

Bundy has offered to pay the local county as they actually offer services to him. The Fed has done nothing and that is what this protest is about.
Bundy's daughter now claims that Bundy offered to pay the county, but the county nevery corroborated that claim, the county does not own the property, and the feds never promised to provide services in return for the grazing fee.

quote:

We should be offering something better to Bundy. We get more out of having a good working relationship with Bundy than doing what we are doing now.
There was a fee to use the property in 1993. Bundy refused to pay it. Bundy has been obstinant and recalcitrant for two decades. He destroyed any potential for a "good working relationship" a long time ago.

And what "more" do "we" get out of a good working relationship with Bundy. Do "we" get to let Bundy use the land for free? Because that's the only deal he'll accept.
