Walter Brennan perhaps?

Dayum! I'd better make sure my property tax is paid to avoid any nasty snipers enforcing the tax code.

I never said that snipers werent ridiculous, but the guy didnt pay for 20 years was court ordered to stop grazing, refused, and then started protesting and causing somewhat of a disturbance when they finally started corralling the cattle. Its a build up on both sides and only a nutjob would carry this out to the point of having snipers (by the way is there any proof that they were there?) show up when courts had ruled against him time and time again.

Listen. I cant stand Reid. If this guy had continued to pay his dues and they were using intimidation to get him to sell or give up his grazing rights Id be right there behind him.

As it is he voluntarily forfeited his right to be there and there are reports of an selling the feds land for an economic development. Usually a cause for celebration by this board.

I got tagged to be the Range Control Officer at Superior Valley for a week. When you drive there, the first item on the checklist is to fill the tank because when you leave the pavement, it's a 150 minute drive one way to get to the range. If you run out of gas, you're up rio de caca.

So I'm driving along on this dirt road and come upon a structure. (By structure, I mean poles planted into the ground and sheathing plywood nailed to the posts to form the walls with a painted plywood roof.) There's a desert rat standing in the middle of the road with some type of S&W wheel gun. Just off the road is a ~70s Ford F-150, and I saw some of the driver's cerebrum splattered on what glass was left in the door window.

I just floored it. I heard the guy saying, "I just found him! I just found him!" Yeah, right. We're 40 miles from a paved road and there's a guy with his head blown off in your front lawn, and you just happened to walk out after your breakfast tea with your pistol to find him.

That was an interesting job!

read this a couple of times and I'm not surprised. Even though you were there, some encounters in life are hard to believe, harder to describe, and better left alone. I can relate.

If you went to the Alpha Beta in Apple Valley at 2AM, you'd see maybe 4 people walking down the aisles in housecoats and socks. It wasn't unusual to go to a bar in Victorville and see a pickup loaded with groceries parked outside while the guys got juiced up enough to make the drive back home. It's a whole different country out there in the high desert.

I haven't followed this 100% other than overviews here and there, but if he had a contract with the govt that his fees would be used for X purposes but then they end up being used for Y purposes, I think he has a right to stop paying the fees. That's my opinion though.

I heard him on the radio and this is one of the points that he made. He wanted his grazing fees to go to the state where they would be used to the betterment of his own state and not wasted by the fed. gov.

Eh but it does encourage it.
Indeed. "Nutjobs" deserve no constitutional protection. Bunch of degenerates. Let's just line 'em up and choot 'em! Choot Em! Choot Em!

Do you think there would be snipers had he paid his dues or ceased grazing when the courts ordered him to?
I find it hard to believe this is the best possible solution.

This looks like a classic case of Mazlow's: when you have tanks, everything looks like targets.

In other words, he's very much like a welfare cheat. Is the government using excessive force? Maybe,
There is no reason both can't be true.

but this guy has turned into a magnet for all kinds of fringe groups, and you don't know who's out there and what they're liable to do.
So the guy is liable for others' actions now? Hmmm... Just think if we applied that to our president? Or our Attorney General? Or... You?

The criminal Reid done fricked up in his criminal enterprise....I can only hope the appropriate justice awaits him amd his son in the coming days

Takes good guys with guns, to stop bad guys with guns?

quote:

Bureau of Land Management chief Neil Kornze made the announcement Saturday morning as hundreds of people, including militia members, gathered near the roundup area to protest the removal of hundreds of Cliven Bundy's cattle.

The bureau also will release 100 of the seized cattle under a deal announced after protesters, some of them armed with handguns and rifles, headed for a corral outside Mesquite in an attempt to free all of the seized cattle, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. The bureau did not immediately return calls to The Associated Press.

I love how they are so pissed about this, and are going mad because he won't "comply" like 16,000 other ranchers have done. How dare he!!!!

Maybe there is insufficient Liberty because there is insufficient pain and suffering on the part of The Ruling Class. Novel Idea. Jefferson probably wishes he had thought about it.
