This is the genius of Trump. The media thinks they get a win saying Trump was wrong, Ontario’s only bring in 1 billion a day when he said they would bring in 3 billion.
Trump is Lucy holding the football. The media is Charlie Brown.

We still don't know where the claim in the op even came from or if it's even true

Did he say 3b surplus per day? Semantics, but if we were at a 5b deficit, and we're now at a 1b surplus, that's a difference of 6b.

Tariffs wont' be large enough to make that sort of dent And the negative economic implications of tariffs will shrink normal tax collection via other methods (primarily income), as tax receipts mirror GDP
Tax receipts do mirror GDP. How will the GDP be influenced by more in the US production? How will the tax revenue increase if our money stays within the country? Inquiring minds want to know.

Your imports would go down and thus the revenue from the imports would go down. You do realize that all of these things can't happen together right? Please tell me you understand that not all of the stated goals are achievable.

Vacherie, do you actually know anything about Singapore?

And we still have no evidence that these even happened or where op heard this information. It's probably just something Trump made up at the rally today.

Well sure imports will decrease and tariff revenue will decrease. The domestic productivity will increase. Want to know how this is a huge net positive?

What I really want to know is where you got the claim in the OP that we're running a one billion per day surplus. You don't know what any of the real import and export numbers are do you?

It’s only been four weeks. We haven’t come close to reaching steady state, so neither the revenue nor the trade balance can be evaluated yet.
This is correct. The increased tariffs collected over the last few months were on orders made way before that. Some of these were tied to contracts signed over the last 12 - 24 months. I work for a manufacturing/ design / logistics company and all of our forecasts look really gloomy.
Trump's plan could possibly work for several of the really large manufacturers who are left standing, but at what cost to all of the other companies and the buying public?

On my phone. Look to the external revenue angency along with trade calculators. Duck duck go is your friend.

You can't copy and paste a link from your phone?

Well, we know TDS is real, and I'm afraid you may have a case.

Bringing 1b more than before? If true, that’s a success in my book
Yep like DOGE only getting 25% of what they said. It is more anyone else in Washington has done in 30 years.

Asking for evidence of a claim isn't TDS.

Most likely scenario here is your misinterpreted what you read and are regurgitating nonsense to the board

Just looked and the government doesn't even release the official numbers until June for April. I'm sure there are estimates available but it seems like you're peddling bullshite numbers you don't understand.

Hey if all this is true, I'm willing to eat a shitload of crow. Brother Trump is getting it done

So only 356 billion to the good, instead of roughly 2 trillion to the bad?
