He said they would bring 3 b per day. Well they are only bringing in 1 b per day. Welp he sucks right? The MSM is having a hay day with this. To quote the late great Paul Harvey “now, the rest of the story”! We were at a 5 b trade deficit per day and now we are at a 1b trade surplus. Imagine that.

It’s only been four weeks. We haven’t come close to reaching steady state, so neither the revenue nor the trade balance can be evaluated yet.

Powertool is clutching his pearls into dust over the thought of losing Singapore as a trade partner.

They haven't even all started yet. Car parts (including tires) at 25% start May 3rd.

Not saying you are wrong but you got some data to back it up?

Bringing 1b more than before? If true, that’s a success in my book.

So the absolute value of the change is $6 billion a day.

Trump is exceeding his estimate by $3 billion.

He's probably not factoring in that we had a widened trade deficit in March because people were trying to get imports in ahead of the tariffs. If you compared only March to only April that would give you a very distorted view of the long term picture. Everyone knows this is true but you can bet instead of acknowledging it I'll be called a lib cuck by people that don't want to acknowledge this reality.

It’s not just going to be the tariffs that make the coffers overflow, the corporate / business taxes from the economy taking off due to onshoring manufacturing (due to the tariffs) and the individual tax cuts will also be a big revenue stream.

You might want to review the actual data

Trade deficits soared after Trump won the election in anticipation of his trade war 2.0

They'll probably remain low for a couple months. We won't really know the long term picture until the dust settles and we're dealing with the new normal of the tariffs.

I didn't even have to read the OP. The fact that it only has about 15 replies guarantees all the muh tariffs hand wringers have avoided it like the plague
