Tariffs are about security through manufacturing

Just cut through all of the howling and screaming.
Our “leaders” have sold us out for 50 years by sending our manufacturing capabilities overseas while stealing our money to the tune of trillions to set those country’s capabilities up. If the China Virus didn’t wake you up to the awful position we could be in through reliance on others for basic goods such as medicine, textiles and metals, nothing will.
In WW2, the USA manufactured its way to victory. I’m not sure we could do that today. Tariffs are necessary to slow or stop the complete demise of the manufacturing sector. It’s the only leverage we have short of military action. Our workers and businesses have been taken advantage of for far too long.
The USA has to use its current Economic power to rebuild the manufacturing sector to reclaim industrial dominance. It’s this or we are screwed.

Thats about the fifth reason today I've read to spin a positive light on the situation.

What if I told you that we're the number two manufacturing country in the world?
Posted on 4/4/25 at 9:02 pm to CDawson
Why are they dismantling established industries like EV and battery manufacturing then?

Where do you think we rank in terms of manufacturing countries in the world?
How many open manufacturing jobs do you think are available right now in the US?
Don't cheat

Then I would write it off summarily as either incorrect or incomplete information. Site unseen.

What if I told you it’s not about how much you manufacture but instead what you manufacture that is far more important.

At this point I will never be able to pay enough back in the form of tariffs to adequately compensate for the entertainment I’ve received over 100 days of watching gay men cry

That’s why that segment has to diversify. You aren’t going to rebuild a sector overnight that has been pushed out for the last 50 years.
The amount of investment announced just in the last two weeks proves that the vision to bring in industry and jobs is working.

Well you can shelf the other four because this is the only one that matters.
Security is created by limiting dependence on others. This is true in just about any capacity of life. National security is no different.

Manufacturing has declined since the 80s.
You know that.
You know that.

Also, we're the only country in the top 10 of total manufacturing and per capita value of our manufacturing output (which is quite the feat).
The only reason China is #1 is b/c (1) they have a lesser economy than we do and can afford more low-level manufacturing jobs and (2) they have 2.5-3x the population.

I mean...we win that argument, too.
Our per capita manufacturing with our volume is unheard of.

Other more profitable and advanced areas have opened up since the 80s, too.

We supply on our own dime global security for the entire world and you’re satisfied getting bent over by every shite hole on the planet.
Happy with being runner up.
Lol. I’m actually embarrassed for you.
Are you going to indemnify future generations and guarantee we remain at the top of the hill? No, then kindly STFU while the rest of us try.

We're ahead of China on a per capita basis and it's the backbone of their economy. If there were a math and reasoning competition you'd be the one getting the participation trophy buddy.

China has outpaced our GDP growth over the last 20 years by 500%
Need help with that math and reasoning?
