Night has fallen in Kabul and there are very few flights showing up so far. Definitely not the volume to get enough people out in time.

And how do you even get in there ... much less getting anyone ... and THEN get out safely??

What's y'alls best guess on how they do this? LOTS of money to the Taliban guys? but totally curious.

Since they are out, its pretty easy. You go to a bordering country and buy vehicles and drive across the border and do your business.

Getting out safely is a different story, but you have to trust the people you are with and trust that your native people helping you wont sell you out.

Probably no money to the Taliban.

You know the number the US gov't is providing is the number from all countries who are leaving the airport.

The Administration got a little shite thrown at them because they were saying "The US have evacuated xxxx many people." They did that for a few days. They started catching flack for taking the credit for all of the flights and evacuations. They only started mentioning the "Coalition flights" when they were pressed/forced to. How they presented that to the American public was very shady, and caused more than a little rift between us and our allies.

The Association of Wartime Allies just ran the numbers and 65,000 eligible SIVs & their family members are currently left behind and the low estimate for P2 visa applicants left behind is 198,000.

Association of Wartime Allies

No idea where in the hell they are going to put 265k people even if they could get them out though.

Over 20,000 people are currently at the front gate at the airport and can't get in and the numbers are increasing by the hour according to reports.

In a briefing to congressional staff, the State Department said that 4100 American citizens are still actively seeking to get out of Afghanistan, a Senate aide tells me. Not all the Americans are located in/around Kabul. The US has evacuated approx. 4,400 Americans already.

Well they’re going to be kind of dead and enslaved to even worry about this. When the American military takes off tomorrow night, it’s all over.

Multiply that 4100 by 3.

Plus that 4400… yeah that was yesterday’s number. So you clowns only managed to get a dozen or so out? If this isn’t calls for a political purge I don’t know what is.

Middle East Eye Afghanistan: Turkey begins evacuating troops from Kabul airport
After Taliban rejected the presence of Turkish troops in Kabul, Ankara decided to withdraw

Turkey thought they were going to be allowed to take over security for the Kabul Airport but with the Taliban saying get the hell out of the country this now signals that there will no longer be flights in or out of Kabul. In other words commercial air traffic for those Americans who thought they would wait it out is now a distant memory and they are royally screwed.

board has quite the reach because someone asked the group if they were from Louisiana because they heard chatter about a private rescue group from Louisiana on an internet bulletin board (i.e. Tigerdroppings) when they landed on the second mission.

Solving murders and rescuing people in Afghanistan. This place is nuts man.

what is sad is he is pulling that number likely out of his arse - and that is the saddest part of all. we want truthful media reporting, yet they cannot do so due to no info from the powers that be.

I'm as patriotic as the next guy, but i am honestly embarrassed to be an American.

Exclusive: Internal U.N. document says Taliban threatened, beat staff

quote:

NEW YORK/LONDON (Reuters) - The Taliban stopped an Afghan United Nations staff member as he tried to reach Kabul airport on Sunday. They searched his vehicle and found his U.N. identification. Then they beat him.

On Monday, three unknown men visited the home of another U.N. staff member who was at work at the time. They asked his son where his father was, and accused him of lying: "We know his location and what he does."

The incidents are among dozens contained in an internal U.N. security document seen by Reuters that describes veiled threats, the looting of U.N. offices and physical abuse of staff since Aug. 10, shortly before the Taliban swept to power.

Think about this one:

Only the Biden Administration can bungle the withdrawal from Afghanistan in the face of an advancing Taliban (a terrorist organization) then ultimately come to use an ISIS (mortal enemies to the Taliban and also a terrorist organization) threat as a major reason they won't stay and get everyone out.

They fricked it up so badly that even terrorist organizations that were not involved in this shitshow are causing problems.

So the POS gov't people have been fudging all the numbers of AMCIT over there waiting to be rescued? And the amount of Afghanis helping us?

What did they say the number was at first when the cluster started?

At first I was like “meh” because I assumed America will do whatever it has to do to protect its people, and that may still be the case BUT..

Even if they get everyone out it is still a blunder because we let the Taliban drive us out instead of just leaving and letting them fill the void without us having to beg them for deadline extensions.

My big concern is that this blunder will be a major recruiting tool for the Taliban because it gives them clout.

The Brits are reporting that they also have around 4,000 people left in Afghanistan.
