I'm sure they're better supplied than we think. Not all of the ANA fled or joined to fight with the Taliban. Those folks are still armed, and "liberated" some of the equipment left to them. The Northern warlords also are traditionally well-armed.

It "picked up speed this weekend", but the gates were documented being closed for around 16 hours total. That's not just hearsay, that's the reality. Some things still don't seem to add up.

Imagine being an SIV/American fighting to get past the Taliban.... then you get to your gate and it's closed and they won't let you in. You fight to ensure you aren't trampled. Then you get hit with tear gas by your own troops.
