It was idiotic for Biden not to undo Trumps agreement but 80% of voters wanted us out of Afghanistan. 20% of us knew it was a terrible idea at least.

Wasn’t this the case pre 9/11?

idk it was a bad idea all around, democrats and republicans were all for it and its gone to shite. Maybe at least the Taliban hold up their end of the agreement to not realign with Al Queda but I doubt it. It was obvious the Taliban was gonna take over the second we left.

So you're one of those that thinks we should keep sending our soldiers over there and spending billions every year to prop up a corrupt regime that will not even lift a finger to defend itself.
Yep, you're an idiot.

You're still not helping your own argument here.
Not one bit. But he can't see it.

From a BBC article:
The US is currently paying the salaries of the, apparently, useless Afghan Army. The question is, are we soon to be simultaneously paying the Taliban as well?

What happened in Jalalabad?
Reports on Sunday morning said the Taliban overran the city, the capital of Nangarhar province, without a shot being fired.
"There are no clashes taking place right now in Jalalabad because the governor has surrendered to the Taliban," a local Afghan official told Reuters news agency.
"Allowing passage to the Taliban was the only way to save civilian lives."

I saw that and apparently it's not just that one city either. Been happening all over.

I do think we should've stayed over there longer but I was talking to one of my best friends, former army, who was in Afghanistan for over a year and is actually a Trump supporter and he said "Screw em, let em burn, they deserve everything they get, it was a lawless shithole before we got over there 20 years ago and when we leave its gonna go right back to being a lawless shithole." Us being there stabilized the area but I honestly dont give a crap if it burns down after we get our people out of there safe.

It wouldn't have mattered how long we had stayed over there if the current handling of the situation didn't change. We would still see mostly defenseless diplomats and pencil pushers left in harm's way because adequate defenses were not left in place until they could safely withdraw. That's what everyone in this thread has been saying.
This withdrawal was bungled, and this Administration was caught flat-footed underestimating the speed at which everything would go to shite. They were warned this was a distinct, if not likely, possibility. They were warned, and warned by multiple people who are trusted to know this.
The overall withdrawal isn't the issue here. The fine detail planning is what has dickered everything.

One of my lifelong friends among the first wave of SF dudes in 2001-2002 and he said essentially the same thing after is first tour. He said they rolled up into a village so remote the people had never realized the Russians had left.

Doubtful, the war on terror was a game. If an attack were to happen it would be because the CIA created it

That fricking pilot is likely a U.S. trained Afghan soldier that switched sides same day. No way a goat herder gonna know how to fly that shite.

Yep, screw the people we left hanging when we slipped out overnight without telling them. They deserve it! Same with those Cubans during the Bay of Pigs fiasco. (You can google that)
The exit strategy is either the most retarded thing that we have done abroad, ever, or an evil plan which will unfold over the next few days.
I lean towards incompetence being the answer..

Getting out of Afghanistan is the correct move. Execution is the difference between what Trump would have done and what Biden did do. Biden is embarrassing the entire USA and putting more lives in danger. Just like how Obama said we wouldn’t be able to defeat ISIS then Trump eviscerated them - Trump would’ve had the Taliban terrified to try anything with us once we pulled out.

And how much were they helped in doing so by Biden doing it fly by night and not evacuating BILLIONS of dollars in American military equipment? That is everyone’s point.
BUT, as others have said you’re just trying to run cover for Biden and blame Trump for something he wasn’t given the opportunity to execute, most likely differently, so GFY
