In the past 2 days on Twitter I think I’ve seen…10 dead bodies on the roadside, a pair of legs flopping like spaghetti on a plane wing, a woman shot in the head…in addition to the chuteless skydivers

Let's be real... The play is this....
US Gov't tells VP of Afghanistan that if he leads an insurgency/resistance then they will identify him as the proper President. They probably gave him a shite ton of cash to give to the Northern Alliance and to push south.
Best case for the US... this guy makes ground before Taliban is fully solidified. He gets former ANA troops/citizens that are shocked by Sharia Law for their cause. Hoping they can rally the Country.
Worst case for the US...this takes attention away from the Airport and Taliban focuses on this new threat. Americans are able to leave with no issues.

Or, Taliban sniffs that out, vies it as a betrayal, and takes hostages and/or starts shelling the runway.
The frozen funds we have control over helps, though. Let's hope it is just enough leverage.

I read that A LOT of Afghani passports were burned when the we fled our embassy. That's fricked up. Now those folks don't have passports. Good luck trying to get to the US now.
Imagine being proactive working with the US only for the dumbasses to burn your passport.
