1 Honor the physician because of necessity, and because the Most High created him.

2 For all healing is from God, and so he will receive gifts from the King.

3 The expertise of the physician will lift up his head, and in the sight of great men, he will be praised.

4 The Most High has created medicines from the earth, and a prudent man will not abhor them.

5 Was not bitter water made sweet with wood?

6 The benefits of these things is recognized by men, and the Most High has given this knowledge to men, so that he may be honored in his wonders.

7 By these things, he will cure or mitigate their suffering, and the pharmacist will make soothing ointments, and he will form healing medicines, and there will be no end to his works.

Incoming state law banning these clauses in surrogacy contracts.

I think there is a very clear distinction between the preservation of life versus the creation or destruction of life.

That might be just me though.

Surrogacy should be banned outright.

I agree.

I think cost barriers need to be greatly lessened in order to make adoption of in-country children more viable, too.

No, you are creating a completely arbitrary distinction.

So God would help man find a way to treat a fatal heart defect through pediatric cardiothoracic surgery, but helping women with defects such as uterine hypoplasia be able to have their own genetic children is a bridge too far. Just makes no sense.

Not really. Preservation is a completely different ballgame than creation and destruction.

What woman is owed, by God or medicine, a genetic child of her own?

It’s interesting to see you continue in the God angle… I might be mistaken but I didn’t take you for a believer.

It is also interesting that you pick the one example that you think fits your “what would God want” line of questioning.., when we both know full well that it is not the only use of surrogacy.

If this is your logic, who is owed anything? Including a functional left ventricle.

I am a believer. And I think giving women the ability to have their own genetic children through modern medicine isn’t a bad thing.

Just bc people “miss-use” something doesn’t mean that thing in and of itself is bad. I’m not thinking about Betty who doesn’t want to carry a child bc she wants to keep her abs.

I’ll type slower.

Preservation of an existing life is different than the creation or destruction of life. The first is being a good steward, as God himself calls us to do.. The latter is playing God.

True. I find the entire idea wrong, not situationally wrong due to misuse, but categorically wrong.

It’s a sick reality, but a lot of doctors truly are obsessed with being able to play god.

The idea of simply preserving life isn’t nearly enough. The concept of extraordinary efforts to create life is much more rewarding to them…and ending lives in that pursuit feeds the same obsession.

The whole surrogate thing blows my mind. Are the biological parents paying for all the prenatal care for the surrogate mother/child out of pocket? Labor and delivery too? I can’t imagine the health insurance of either party wants any part of this.

Surrogacy is evil but at least the surrogate mother has some moral compass. The other couple is demonic
