The Supreme Court on Monday allowed a lawsuit to go forward against a Black Lives Matter activist who led a protest in Louisiana in which a police officer was injured. Civil rights groups and free speech advocates have warned that the suit threatens the right to protest.

The justices rejected an appeal from DeRay Mckesson in a case that stems from a 2016 protest over the police killing of a Black man in Baton Rouge.

Pretty sure they denied writs on the motion to dismiss. They didn’t touch the merits.

Interesting upvote ratio so far. Any thoughts on how this could affect Donald Trump being liable for J6 injuries?

Feds are arresting anyone that was out in the crowd now. Even if you didn’t go in the capital. Guess your ilk have no problem with that.

Quite the opposite. I think it’s bad precedent to set applied to both McKesson and Trump.

I think you’re getting into heckler’s veto territory if you allow this cause of action.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but I think you may have it wrong.

A cop was injured by a rock chunker at the riot.

The cop sued the riot organizer because he didn't "exercise reasonable care" when he lead protesters onto the highway which caused the police confrontation.

The Anti Christ's Legal Union claims the suit would interfere in American's right to protest. (Like at the capitol)

However - the riot became illegal when they entered the highway.

Led the riot.... LED

The only people who could've been said to have led J6 is Ray Epps or that buffalo-headed cosplayer.

Trump not only wasn't there, but called for the crowd to stand down.

I had almost forgotten Alton Sterling. Wasn’t he that young, promising entrepreneur “selling CD’s outside of Walmart” and was only waving his gun around to protect his thriving business?

It takes sheer dedication to your craft to blatantly ignore an officer when he says don’t reach for your gun while you’re held down, several times.

We lost a great one that day.

How would he be liable, after expressly, explicitly, and very publicly telling his followers to be peaceful?

If I say "there is a party at my house, you are all invited. Don't stand in the street, please" and you stand in the street and get a ticket for blocking traffic. . .I am ultimately not liable for inciting you to stand in the street.

Now some aggressive cop or DA could try to argue I am liable, but that would fall apart after witness testimony.

No worries. One of your podnas came back to BR a little later and killed some cops in retaliation for all of this. You still come out on top. This was after marches calling for violence. Our mayor was one of those people calling for violence and they got it.

Can you point to us where Trump called for violence against law enforcement?

I can't wait to read your TDS riddled reply.

Died for the greater cause. A true pioneer for black America and well deserving of all the riots ensued.
