Wasn't that difficult.

I worked the grill at a 5 star restaurant/hotel for a full year before graduate school.

Bitch doesn't know shite. I never once bragged about correctly timing out tickets and having as many as 42 cuts of diff meat of various sizes and requested temps on my sun-broiler at the same time. It wasn't important and was a means to get the money to pay for school. Was it stressful at times? Yes, but you power through because the minute you bitch you get rocked and fall behind, overcook, or incorrectly time out an order with the rest of the table.

But pouring coffee, running a blender, and adding enough syrup to make a diabetic cringe is SOOO fricking hard

Well yeah...if I was over 30 years old, but probably not for the same reasons this barista thinks.

Yep…these people have zero idea of the mental fortitude it takes for jobs that challenge them mentally…they equate everything to one thing and one size fits all. It’s truly sad

-Doesn't pay that great?
-Erratic hours?
-Little chance for promotion to a real job?
-Doesn't require any skill other than making hearts in coffee-like drinks?
-Involved in restaurants full of other slackers?
-Allows the employee to pursue their "main gig of writing a novel" but somehow they never have a novel?

I love how dingdong baristas think they have a tough job when folks are working in steel mills and paper mills so foul they have the shower and change clothes before getting in their car, which is usually a beater used to drive to/from work. And they also probably make 2-3x what a barista makes, before overtime.

Losers.

These people make coffee for a living, it's not exactly splitting the atom. Viva la drip, comrades.

I spent the last week on the 20th floor of a reactor working on a line that was sandwiched 6” between the reactor and 539 degree pipe but… he ain’t lying, I would never be able to handle being a barista.
