...and now this guy has police protection:
quote:
A student who was at school during the time of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas said he saw School Resource Deputy Scot Peterson sit by and do nothing. Senior Brandon Huff rushed to the building where the shooting was taking place when he found out his girlfriend was inside.
quote:
“The school resource officer was behind a stairwell wall, just standing there, and he had his gun drawn, and he was just pointing it at the building,” Huff said. “Shots started going off inside, and you could hear them going off over and over again.” Huff said Coach Aaron Feis risked his life and ran inside to help, but he said Peterson didn’t move. “He was pointing his gun at nothing. He was pointing his gun just at the building with kids in it, and he was just talking on the radio, and he never did anything for four minutes,” Huff said. Huff said Peterson was behind a stairwell in an adjacent building during the shooting. “He’s the only one with a gun,” Huff said. “He’s wearing a bullet proof vest, he has all that while school security guards, coaches were running in shielding kids — Coach Feis, Hixon were running in, shielding kids from bullets and losing their lives while he did nothing.”
quote:
When asked what would he say to Peterson, Huff responded: “You are despicable. You didn’t do your job. You were trained for this. You were armed. You had a bulletproof vest. You were protected more than anyone else who died, who lost their lives, and you did nothing. You froze. You got scared. You did nothing at all, and you could have saved a lot of lives.”
...and now this guy has police protection:
quote:
7News tried talking to Peterson at his Boynton Beach home, but reporters were turned away by Palm Beach County deputies who were guarding his house.

People I think are mostly good, so I innately thought this was true even before this story. The sheriff and those 4 deputees are pathetic and should be hung.

I know it's irrational, but part of me wants this dude to get shot just because.........

What a piece of shite. I get it's tough and a scary situation but there is no excuse for that at all

Agreed, and that is what he signed up for.

An end to his life isn't nearly as fitting of a punishment as a lifetime of complete ridicule, ostracization, and utter contempt would be, if you ask me. He should be reminded every day, for the rest of his waking life, of how much of a coward and undutiful person he is. Then, perhaps, he might find a means and will towards salvation and works that try to compensate for his dereliction of duty.

Well, did anyone dispute this? Seems to be the story...

I don't really want him shot. Let him wallow in his own filth.
But, man........maybe just shot in the shin? Can we do that?

No, this just adds some context.

He could have ended this situation as quickly as it began. Instead he chose to do nothing and 17 people died. If not for the selfless actions of those who rushed in unarmed to protect others, there may have been dozens more killed. Absolutely unacceptable

I can’t even comprehend this. The sad thing is they probably made him a school resource officer because he’s s giant pussy. I’d love to see his file and find out who and why this guy was recommended for this position. Something tells me it wasn’t due to bravery and valor.

He did the same thing as the Columbine police officers.
Plus 3 other deputies also stood by.
4 men could have killed the shooter.
Instead, we give his 3 hots and a cot. On our dime.

Meanwhile David Hogg goes off about Sherriff Clarke and the CEO of FedEx and the NRA.

I can't help but notice not a single company or organization is cutting ties to the sheriff Department whose incompetence and cowardice allowed a massacre to happen.

I'm not sure he could have 'ended it.' But he could surely have changed the course of the event, most probably to the benefit of saving some number of lives. I don't see how any intervention would have cost more lives.
Just entering the building and firing some shots into the ceiling would have given Cruz another factor to consider - even a moment of hesitation on his part could easily have allowed at least one of the fatalities to escape.
I suspect his training did not prepare him for the situation. I am of the opinion that this Sheriff Israel is just a political activist who puts little effort into his actual duty of serving and protecting the community, and more effort into pleasing his radical leftist overlords.
I would be willing to bet that any 'training' they engaged in was pro-forma - just an exercise to check off a box, rather than a dedicated effort to game-plan various situations.

But a protocol for handing these kinds of situations was designed in response to Columbine, and has been honed over the decades since. This guy reacted as if he had never heard of a similar situation.

David Hogg is an insufferable piece of shite - undoubtedly driven by radical parents. It is a shame - he appears extremely articulate - just terribly misguided and ignorant.

Much like 98% of the blowhards on this website would have done.
Where you at Mike Tyson?

I love that liberals knee-jerk anti trump stance has forced them to defend the coward. It's amazing to watch.
