When companies who pay decent ask for 4 year degrees and 5 year exp for an ENTRY LEVEL job then we can have this discussion of whether college is important or not.

This maybe true, but the push to get kids into 4 year colleges are far more focused than it is for trade schools and community colleges.

Keep blaming the game, player.

Not all kids are "pushed" in this way. Many families emphasize character and discipline and promote education, but not in the sense that they pin their hopes on a certain institutional paradigm.

I see your point trust me, but you expect a population that consist of 17 and 18 year olds making a logical financial decision? Shid when I was 17 money would burn a hole in my pocket I couldn't spend it fast enough. All they know is that they signed a $20K student loan for the year and they will get $1500 refund check each semester.

No, their FAMILIES should have a share in this burden.

Think about the game from this stand point. Loans are being made to 17 and 18 year olds. These loans are not likely to be repaid due to the lack of financial responsibility in this demographic. The debt is growing exponentially with very little being recouped. The debt has surpassed every other consumer debt. Who you think is going to pay this debt if a bunch of now 22 and 23 year olds refuse or cannot pay the debt. Financially you gambled on a 17 or 18 year old paying back a loan they can't even fathom of paying back.

WTF so if your child finances a car and doesn't want to pay for it you are cool with the bank coming after you?

That's it? That's all? The price of a Honda Accord? Pay your fricking debt, goddamn. (not directed specifically at OP)

They CAN'T pay it. That's the problem. Would you buy a Honda Accord if you were struggling to find full time work? Probably not.

I didn't say whether or not college was important (BTW I think it is); what I said was the Gov't needs to stop loaning money FOR college. The further the Gov't gets away from anything that involves $$, the cheaper shite will be.

Even shite jobs do this. The only ones that don't are the super sketchy sales positions that promise $100k+

Yeah sooner or later it will be a requirement to have a 4 year to work at Taco Bell.

Women have figured it out though. Become a Insta/Twitch/YouTube whore.

And that's why I know you're a worthless piece of shite. You should've:
A) picked a school you could afford.
B) picked a degree that was worth the cost of getting said degree.
C) worked instead of partied to pay for your school

I worked 2 jobs and paid for my school with no loans. Why should those of us who were responsible have to pay for our education and yours? Get off your dead beat arse and pay your debts. Work another job if you have to. Quit being scum.

All I see is excuses and blame cast on others. If someone has the work ethic and wants to pay their loans back, they can easily start over in a new trade and stop pointing fingers at others for their past mistakes. Those who sit around pointing fingers and making excuses are falling behind even faster while their counterparts keep progressing forward.

I'm not blaming anyone, I'm pointing out a fact. My parents didn't do this to me, but I saw plenty who did. Paying back loans that were much larger than the costs of going to college when their parents went. You used to be able to pay for college with a part time job, not remain in debt for years after graduation. Only to find out the job everyone told you that you HAD to have the degree for didn't exist.

woah woah woah

I worked 50 hours plus as a supervisor for Best Buy while obtaining my BSEE.

Find a ABET Certified Engineering School (That will actually get your foot in the door) for less than 50k over 4 years...I'll wait.

That's not including Living expenses.

Hot Take: That shite is expensive and your 2 jobs would not pay for it. I promise you.

$34k for a degree worth a damn is a good move. That's less than the price of a new truck and subsidized loans make it a pretty good deal.

Paying that much for a $25k a year job and you are just a goddamn fool and aren't worth my pity.

With that said, people need to pay their debts. You knew what you were signing up for, and if you didn't then you at a moron.
